Abstract

A thermostat update and copying system can include a first thermostat having a processor, a transmitter, a storage area. In some embodiments, the processor generates update data, the storage area maintains the update data, and the transmitter transmits the update data to multiple target devices. In some embodiments, the target devices include mobile devices capable of running applications to receive the update data and/or at least a second thermostat wherein the second thermostat is activated and update data is transmitted by the transceiver to the second thermostat.

Claims

1. A thermostat update system comprising:

(a) a first thermostat comprising;

(i) a processor configured to generate an update datum;

(ii) a transmitter configured to transmit said update datum to a target device;

(iii) a storage area configured to store said update datum.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein said target device is a remote device selected from the group consisting of a smartphone, a laptop, a tablet, and a personal computer.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein said target device is a second thermostat.

4. The system of claim 2 wherein said remote device is configured to copy said update datum from said first thermostat.

5. The system of claim 3 wherein said second thermostat includes

(i) a touch pad;

and

(ii) a display.

6. The system of claim 2 wherein activating a control sequence of said remote device enables transmission of said update datum to a third thermostat.

7. The system of claim 5 wherein said second thermostat is configured to transmit said update datum to a third thermostat.

8. The system of claim 7 wherein said update data is transmitted to a Wi-Fi router and said Wi-Fi router transmits said update datum to said second thermostat.

14. The system of claim 2 wherein said update datum is transmitted to a Wi-Fi router and said Wi-Fi router transmits said update datum to a second thermostat, and said Wi-Fi router accesses said update datum from a remote server.

9. A thermostat update system comprising:

(a) a first thermostat comprising;

(i) a processor configured to generate an update datum;

(ii) a transmitter configured to transmit said update datum to a first target device; and

(iii) a storage area configured to maintain said update datum.

10. The system of claim 9 wherein said first target device is a mobile device and wherein said transmitter is configured to transmit said update datum to a second thermostat.

11. The system of claim 9 wherein said first thermostat controls a comfort control device.

12. The system of claim 10 wherein said second thermostat includes a touch pad.

13. The system of claim 12 wherein said second thermostat includes a mechanical button.

15. A method of transferring thermostat update data comprising:

(a) providing a first thermostat having a processor, a transmitter, and a storage area;

(b) generating update data by said processor for said thermostat;

(c) maintaining said update data by said storage area;

(d) transmitting said update data by said transmitter to multiple target devices, including at least one of;

(i) a mobile device capable of running an application to receive and store said update data; and

(ii) a second thermostat configured to receive said update data from said mobile device when a control button is activated.

16. The method of claim 15 further comprising:

(e) displaying said update data from said first thermostat by said mobile device.

17. The method of claim 15 further comprising:

(e) activating a control sequence of said mobile device; and

(f) enabling the transmission of said update data to a third thermostat.

18. The method of claim 17 further comprising:

(g) transmitting said update data to said third thermostat by said second thermostat.

19. The method of claim 15 further comprising:

(e) transmitting said update data to a Wi-Fi router wherein said Wi-Fi router is configured to transmit said update data to said second thermostat.

20. The method of claim 19 further comprising

(f) accessing said update data from a remote server via said Wi-Fi router.
