Abstract

Disclosed is a process for producing an animation of the multipage type, in which each still image of the animation has scalability properties. Preferably, each still image is to be saved on at least two levels, the first level containing few details and each following level providing additional details to the preceding level.

22. Process for producing an animation (A) of the multipage type, said the animation medium (AM, AG) comprising still images (Pn) with scalability properties, each level providing information of a higher resolution than the preceding level, the process comprising, in the reading order of said medium, all the levels (Nm) of a first rank (m) according to the order in which the images (Pn) of the animation are intended to be played, then all the levels of the immediately higher rank (Nm+1).

23. Process according to claim 22, wherein each of the scalable images is stored in at least two levels (Nm), the first level (N1) comprising the least details and each following level (Nm) providing details additional to the preceding level (Nm−

1).

24. Process according to claim 23, wherein to play an image (Pn), a level (Nm) is first played before the level of a higher rank (Nm+1).

25. Process according to claim 24, wherein for each image (Pn) the data contained in all the levels available for said image (Pn) are decompressed and displayed.

26. Process according to claim 24, wherein the data corresponding only to the levels available for all the images are decompressed and displayed.

27. Process according to claim 24, wherein the data corresponding to the smallest set of levels are decompressed and displayed enabling at least a given image display resolution to be achieved.

28. Process according to claim 22, wherein an image (Pn) is played according to the data stemming from a level of said image (Pn:

Nm) before the data in the higher level rank (Pn;

Nm+1) have been read, then processed.

29. Process according to claim 22, wherein the image processed is resized, before being played, to achieve the display resolution sought.

30. Process according to claim 22, wherein the still images were previously compressed by a method including at least one transformed by wavelets.

31. Process according to claim 22, wherein the still images were previously compressed by a method including at least one difference between two adjacent pixels.

32. Process according to claim 22, wherein at least one initial still image was compressed using a first compression method, and at least a second still image was compressed using a second compression method.

33. Process according to claim 32, further comprising an analysis stage for each still image so as to determine the most suitable compression method.

34. Process according to claim 33, wherein the first compression method comprises at least one transformed by wavelets, and the second compression method comprises at least one difference between two adjacent pixels.

35. Process according to claim 34, wherein the analysis stage files the images by contrast level, the least contrasted images being compressed according to the first method, and the most contrasted images being compressed according to the second method.

36. Process according to claim 22, wherein the image medium is a file.

Medium (AG) for implementing a Process according to claim 22, further comprising, in the reading order of said medium, all the levels (Nm) of a first rank (m) according to the order in which the animation'"'"'s images (Pn) are intended to be played, then all the immediately higher levels (Nm+1).

38. Process to select a still image in an animation medium (AM, AG) according to claim 36, wherein a level of a rank (m) is used to display a preview of the media'"'"'s (AG) images without reading or processing the images at higher levels (>

m).

39. Process according to claim 33, wherein a still image media is created from levels of the still image selected.

41. The process of claim 22, wherein the process starts with the first levels (Pn:

N1).

A non-transitory computer readable medium on which is stored a program, which when executed by a computer, causes the computer to produce a multipage type of animation (A), said animation medium (AM, AG) comprising still images (Pn) with scalability properties, each level providing information of a higher resolution than the preceding level, the program comprising, in the reading order of said medium, all the levels (Nm) of a first rank (m) according to the order in which the images (Pn) of the animation are intended to be played, then all the levels of the immediately higher rank (Nm+1).
