Abstract

A method according to one embodiment includes receiving Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag information associated with a vehicle, the RFID tag information including registration information for the vehicle, monetary information associated with the vehicle, and a service history of the vehicle, performing an identification, utilizing the RFID tag information, and determining one or more obligations associated with the vehicle, based on the identification.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

receiving Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag information associated with a vehicle, the RFID tag information including registration information for the vehicle, monetary information associated with the vehicle, and a service history of the vehicle;

performing an identification, utilizing the RFID tag information; and

determining one or more obligations associated with the vehicle, based on the identification.

2. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the RFID tag information includes a unique ID associated with the vehicle.

3. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the RFID tag information includes a vehicle identification number (VIN).

4. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the RFID tag information includes a license plate number associated with the vehicle.

5. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the RFID tag information includes an indication of one or more problems with the vehicle.

6. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the RFID tag information is read when the vehicle passes through an automated lane.

7. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the RFID tag information is correlated with an account.

8. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising locating an RFID tag by sending out one or more signals, where the RFID tag information associated with the vehicle is received in response to the locating.

9. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the RFID tag information is received via an overhead roadside reader.

10. A method, comprising:

receiving Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag information associated with a vehicle;

performing an identification of the vehicle, utilizing the RFID tag information; and

extracting, from a database, data associated with the vehicle, utilizing the identification of the vehicle, where the data associated with the vehicle includes an identification of an owner of the vehicle and a service history of the vehicle.

11. The method as recited in claim 10, wherein the RFID tag information includes a unique ID associated with the vehicle.

12. The method as recited in claim 10, wherein the RFID tag information includes a vehicle identification number (VIN).

13. The method as recited in claim 10, wherein the RFID tag information includes a license plate number associated with the vehicle.

14. The method as recited in claim 10, wherein the RFID tag information includes an indication of one or more problems with the vehicle.

15. The method as recited in claim 10, wherein the RFID tag information is read when the vehicle passes through an automated lane.

16. The method as recited in claim 10, wherein the RFID tag information is correlated with an account.

17. The method as recited in claim 10, further comprising locating an RFID tag by sending out one or more signals, where the RFID tag information associated with the vehicle is received in response to the locating.

18. The method as recited in claim 10, wherein the RFID tag information is received via an overhead roadside reader.

19. The method as recited in claim 10, wherein the RFID tag information is received at an automotive yard.

20. A method, comprising:

performing a service on a vehicle;

querying a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag associated with the vehicle; and

adding information associated with the service to a memory of the RFID tag of the vehicle.
