Abstract

A method for gaming. The method includes assigning a default game play profile to a user, wherein the default game play profile includes a default game play style that simulates human game play, and wherein the default game play profile is configured to control game play for the user based on the default game play style. The method includes monitoring a plurality of game plays of the user playing a plurality of gaming applications. The method includes generating a user game play profile of the user by adjusting the default game play style based on the plurality of game plays, wherein the user game play profile includes a user game play style customized to the user. The method includes controlling an instance of a first gaming application based on the user game play style of the user game play profile.

Claims

1. A method for gaming, comprising:

assigning a default game play profile to a user, wherein the default game play profile comprises a default game play style that simulates human game play, wherein the default game play profile is configured to control game play for the user based on the default game play style;

monitoring a plurality of game plays of the user playing a plurality of gaming applications;

generating a user game play profile of the user by adjusting the default game play style based on the plurality of game plays, wherein the user game play profile comprises a user game play style customized to the user; and

controlling an instance of a first gaming application based on the user game play style of the user game play profile.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the generating a user game play profile further comprises:

monitoring a first plurality of first responses by the user in the plurality of game plays to a plurality of tasks each of which is defined by a first task type, wherein the default game play style comprises a default first response to tasks of the first task type; and

generating a user first response to tasks of the first task type by adjusting the default first response based on the first plurality of first responses by the user.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

monitoring a first plurality of first responses in a plurality of game plays of a plurality of players to a second plurality of tasks each of which is defined by the first task type;

generating the default first response in the default game play profile based on the first plurality of first responses by the plurality of players.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the generating a user first response comprises:

applying a least squares function to the first plurality of first responses to generate the user first response.

5. The method of claim 2, wherein the controlling an instance comprises:

detecting that user is presented with a first task of the first task type in a game play of the user playing the first gaming application; and

approaching the first task in the game play of the user based on the user first response.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

detecting one or more failed responses to the first task in the game play; and

generating for display to the user a query in the instance of the first gaming application asking if the user needs help when addressing the task.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

receiving a request for help; and

generating a hint for display to the user in the instance of the first gaming application.

8. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

receiving a request for help; and

taking full control of the game play in the instance of a first gaming application based on the user game play style.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a request to automatically handle the first task.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a request to automatically control the instance of the first gaming application.

11. A method for gaming, comprising:

generating user game play profile of a user, wherein the user game play profile comprises a user game play style that simulates the user game play;

receiving a take-over request to switch the game play of the user playing a first gaming application to automated game play control; and

controlling an instance of the first gaming application based on the user game play style of the user game play profile including a logical structure that defines learned game play responses based on user generated responses from one or more previously conducted game plays of the user playing one or more gaming applications.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising;

limiting the controlling an instance of the first gaming application to a time period.

13. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

receiving a progress control factor in the take-over request;

maintaining a status quo in the game play when the progress control factor indicates low progress; and

aggressively playing the game play when the progress control factor indicates high progress.

14. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

assigning a default game play profile to the user, wherein the default game play profile comprises a default game play style that simulates human game play, wherein the default game play profile is configured to control game play for the user based on the default game play style;

monitoring a plurality of game plays of the user playing a plurality of gaming applications; and

generating the user game play profile of the user by adjusting the default game play style based on the plurality of game plays, wherein the user game play profile comprises the user game play style customized to the user.

15. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

receiving an initial request to execute the first gaming application from the user, wherein the user is associated with a user account; and

executing the instance of the first gaming application responsive to input from the user, execution of the instance of the first gaming application enabling interaction with game logic of the first gaming application to instantiate game play of the user.

16. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a computer program for assisting game play, the computer-readable medium comprising:

program instructions for assigning a default game play profile to a user, wherein the default game play profile comprises a default game play style that simulates human game play, wherein the default game play profile is configured to control game play for the user based on the default game play style;

program instructions for monitoring a plurality of game plays of the user playing a plurality of gaming applications;

program instructions for generating a user game play profile of the user by adjusting the default game play style based on the plurality of game plays, wherein the user game play profile comprises a user game play style customized to the user; and

program instructions for controlling an instance of a first gaming application based on the user game play style of the user game play profile.

17. The computer-readable medium of claim 16, wherein the program instructions for generating a user game play profile further comprises:

program instructions for monitoring a first plurality of first responses by the user in the plurality of game plays to a plurality of tasks each of which is defined by a first task type, wherein the default game play style comprises a default first response to tasks of the first task type; and

program instructions for generating a user first response to tasks of the first task type by adjusting the default first response based on the first plurality of first responses by the user.

18. The computer-readable medium of claim 17, further comprising:

program instructions for monitoring a first plurality of first responses in a plurality of game plays of a plurality of players to a plurality of tasks each of which is defined by a first task type;

program instructions for generating the default first response in the default game play profile based on the first plurality of first responses by the plurality of players.

19. The computer-readable medium of claim 16, wherein the program instructions for controlling an instance further comprises:

program instructions for detecting that user is presented with a first task of the first task type in a game play of the user playing the first gaming application; and

program instructions for approaching the first task in the game play of the user based on the user first response.

20. The computer-readable medium of claim 16, further comprising:

program instructions for receiving a request for help; and

program instructions for generating a hint for display to the user in the instance of the first gaming application.

21. The computer-readable medium of claim 16, further comprising:

program instructions for receiving a request for help; and

program instructions for taking full control of the game play in the instance of a first gaming application based on the user game play style.
