Abstract

A wireless media player and a related system and methodology are provided. One aspect of the wireless media player system pertains to a virtual connector system, apparatus, and method for the automatic establishment of wireless connectivity with other electronic devices. In one embodiment, the media player device displays one of the stored display content, communicates configuration information with at least one target device via a proximity wireless link, establishes a communication link with the at least one target device in accordance with the configuration information communicated via the proximity wireless link and transmits a content which corresponds to the display content being displayed on the display unit at a time of establishing the proximity wireless link to the at least one target device over the established communication link.

Claims

1. A wireless media player comprising:

a display unit configured to display one of the stored display content;

a proximity wireless communication unit configured to communicate configuration information with at least one target device via a proximity wireless link; and

a wireless transceiver configured to establish a communication link with the at least one target device in accordance with the configuration information communicated via the proximity wireless link and to transmit a content which corresponds to the display content being displayed on the display unit at a time of establishing the proximity wireless link to the target device over the established communication link.

2. The wireless media player of claim 1, wherein the displaying of the display content and the transmission of the content which corresponds to the display content are performed in parallel.

3. The wireless media player of claim 1, wherein the content which is being transmitted is the content which is corresponds to the display content being displayed on the display unit.

4. The wireless media player of claim 1, wherein the wireless transceiver transmits the content so as to be displayed on the target device.

5. The wireless media player of claim 1, further comprising an operation unit configured to receive an operation to activate the proximity wireless communication unit.

6. The wireless media player of claim 1, wherein the content that corresponds to the display content being displayed on the wireless media player at a time of establishing the proximity wireless link is transmitted automatically in response to the establishment of the communication link.

The wireless media player of claim 1, wherein the content that corresponds to the display content being displayed on the wireless media player prior to establishing the proximity wireless link and corresponds to the display content being displayed on the wireless media player at a time of establishing the proximity wireless link is transmitted automatically in response to establishment of the communication link.

8. The wireless media player of claim 1, wherein the content that corresponds to the display content not being displayed on the wireless media player at a time of establishing the proximity wireless link is not automatically transmitted.

9. The wireless media player of claim 1, wherein the content to be transmitted to the at least one target device is the content that corresponds to the display content currently being displayed on the wireless media player.

10. The wireless media player of claim 1, wherein the content to be transmitted is converted into a format corresponding to the at least one target device before the content is transmitted to the at least one target device and after the proximity wireless communication module communicates the configuration information with the at least one target device via the proximity wireless link.

11. The wireless media player of claim 1, wherein the wireless media player is a digital camera.

12. The wireless media player of claim 1, wherein the wireless media player is a cellular phone.

13. The wireless media player of claim 1, wherein the proximity wireless communication module is a near field communication (NFC) module, and the proximity wireless link is an NFC link.

14. The wireless media player of claim 1, wherein the established communication link is an 802.11 link.

15. A wireless media player comprising:

a reading unit configured to read at least one media data from a storage component;

an operation unit to receive an operation to select the at least one media data;

a proximity wireless communication unit configured to communicate configuration information with at least one target device via a proximity wireless link; and

a wireless transceiver configured to establish a communication link with the at least one target device in accordance with the configuration information communicated via the proximity wireless link and to transmit the media data selected before the proximity wireless communication unit communicates the configuration information with the at least one target device via the proximity wireless link from the storage component to the target device over the established communication link.

16. The wireless media player of claim 15, wherein the media data to be transmitted is converted into a format corresponding to the at least one target device before the media data is transmitted to the at least one target device and after the proximity wireless communication module communicates the configuration information with the at least one target device via the proximity wireless link.

17. The wireless media player of claim 15, wherein the wireless media player is a digital camera.

18. The wireless media player of claim 15, wherein the wireless media player is a cellular phone.

19. The wireless media player of claim 15, wherein the proximity wireless communication module is a near field communication (NFC) module and the proximity wireless link is an NFC link.

20. The wireless media player of claim 15, wherein the established communication link is an 802.11 link.

21. A method of controlling a wireless media player, the method comprising:

displaying a display content;

communicating configuration information with at least one target device via a proximity wireless link;

establishing a communication link with the at least one target device in accordance with the configuration information communicated via the proximity wireless link; and

transmitting the content which corresponds to the display content being displayed on the wireless media player at a time of establishing the proximity wireless link to the at least one target device over the established communication link.

22. A method of controlling a wireless media player, the method comprising:

reading at least one media data from a storage component;

receiving an operation to select the at least one media data;

communicating configuration information with at least one target device via a proximity wireless link;

establishing a communication link with the at least one target device in accordance with the configuration information communicated via the proximity wireless link; and

transmitting the at least one media data selected before the proximity wireless communication unit communicates the configuration information with the at least one target device via the proximity wireless link from the storage component to the target device over the established communication link.

23. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium which stores a program for causing a computer to execute a method, the method comprising:

displaying a display content on a wireless media player;

communicating configuration information with at least one target device via a proximity wireless link;

establishing a communication link with the at least one target device in accordance with the configuration information communicated via the proximity wireless link; and

transmitting the content which corresponds to the display content being displayed on the wireless media player at a time of establishing the proximity wireless link from the storage component to the target device over the established communication link.

24. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium which stores a program for causing a computer to execute a method, the method comprising:

reading at least one media data from a storage component;

receiving an operation to select the at least one media data;

communicating configuration information with at least one target device via a proximity wireless link;

establishing a communication link with the at least one target device in accordance with the configuration information communicated via the proximity wireless link; and

transmitting the at least one media data selected before the proximity wireless communication unit communicates the configuration information with the at least one target device via the proximity wireless link from the storage component to the target device over the established communication link.
