Abstract

This disclosure describes methods and apparatus sustainable battery charging. In one of the embodiments, a charger and plugging mechanism is presented to prevent overcharging of the battery. The plug will automatically detach the power cord from the device when the battery is fully charged. Other feedback controlled detaching mechanisms has also been disclosed such as the one disconnects the charger cord when the internal temperature of the device gets hotter than a preset threshold.

Claims

1. - A plug for sustainable charging of an electronic device wherein the plug will be automatically detached from the power port of the said device when the device battery is fully charged.

2. - The plug of claim 1, wherein the detaching mechanism is through making the connection loose when the battery is fully charged.

3. - The plug of claim 1,

wherein the attachment mechanism is implemented through an electromagnet system;

and wherein the intensity of the magnetic field of the attachment is controlled through a feedback mechanism affected by the charged level of the battery.

4. - The plug of claim 1, wherein the attachment mechanism is implemented through an electromagnet system wherein the average current controlling the electromagnetic field is proportional to the difference of the battery voltage from the full battery charge level.

5. - The automatic detachable charger plugs of claim 3 wherein the intensity of the said magnetic field will be controlled through changing pulse width modulation (PWM) of the input current based on the charged level feedback.

10. - The system of claim 2 when the electronic device is a smartphone.

7. - A battery charger system comprising:

A charger;

An automatic detachable electromagnetic plug;

An electronic device being charged;

At least one temperature sensor installed inside the said electronic device;

Where in the intensity of the magnetic field of the said plug is determined by a feedback from the temperature sensor such that the power cord becomes detached from the said electronic device when the internal temperature of the device reaches to a preset value.

8. - The system of claim 7 wherein the purpose of the system is to prevent battery explosion.

9. - The system of claim 7 when the electronic device is an electric vehicle.
