19. A computer-implemented method for determining a compatibility of one or more devices in an analyte monitoring system, comprising:

receiving, by a second device of the analyte monitoring system, configuration data related to a configuration of a first device of the analyte monitoring system, wherein a plurality of software functions are stored on the second device; determining, using one or more processors of the second device, whether the configuration of the first device is compatible with the second device by comparing the received configuration data with one or more identification codes; and if the configuration of the first device is compatible with the second device, then determining, using the one or more processors of the second device, a compatible software function from the plurality of software functions stored in the second device, wherein the compatible software function processes monitored analyte data obtained by the first device. - View Dependent Claims (20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28)

29. An analyte monitoring system adapted to determine a compatibility of a first device adapted to obtain monitored data, the analyte monitoring system comprising:
a second device having a plurality of software functions stored thereon, the second device comprising; a wireless receiver adapted to receive configuration data related to a configuration of a first device; one or more processors; and non-transitory memory comprising software stored thereon that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to; determine whether the configuration of the first device is compatible with the second device by comparing the received configuration data with one or more identification codes; and if the configuration of the first device is compatible with the second device, then determine a compatible software function from the plurality of software functions stored in the second device, wherein the compatible software function processes monitored analyte data obtained by the first device. - View Dependent Claims (30, 31, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38)
