Abstract

A system for detecting and monitoring an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in a facility is disclosed herein. The system includes a detection device and a contraband monitoring center configured to receive an alert from the detection device, wherein the alert comprises a time and a location of the detection device when the UAV was detected, develop an intervention plan for intervening with communications to or from the UAV based on the alert, generate a notification based on the intervention plan, and transmit the notification to the detection device.

Claims

1. A system for detecting and monitoring a target device unauthorized for use in a facility, the system comprising:

a detection device configured to detect the target device, and to generate an alert in response to the detecting that includes a time and a location of the detection device at the time the target device was detected;

a contraband monitoring center configured to;

receive the alert from the detection device;

develop an intervention plan for intervening with communications to or from the target device based on the alert;

generate a notification based on the intervention plan; and

transmit the notification to the detection device to activate an intervention operation associated with the intervention plan.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the detection device is a mobile device, and the contraband monitoring center is further configured to:

receive motion data from the mobile device indicating movement of the mobile device; and

generate the intervention plan based on the motion data.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the contraband monitoring center is further configured to:

generate instructions as part of the intervention plan for one or more mobile devices or fixed monitoring devices to generate one or more of a jamming signal, a managed access signal, or an audio or video recording.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the detection device is a fixed monitoring device, and the target device is a drone or an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the fixed monitoring device includes one or more directional antennas that are pointed towards the facility or away from the facility and configured to detect the target device.

6. The system of claim 4, wherein the fixed monitoring device includes one or more virtually controlled quad antenna systems configured to detect the target device based on Doppler effect and triangulation.

7. The system of claim 4, wherein the fixed monitoring device includes one or more omnidirectional antennas configured to detect the target device by intercepting a Global Positioning System (GPS) signal of the target device.

8. The system of claim 4, wherein the fixed monitoring device includes one or more infrared cameras configured to detect heat patterns of the target device.

9. The system of claim 4, wherein the fixed monitoring device includes one or more microphone elements configured to detect the target device by tuning into an audio frequency of a propeller system in the target device.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein the contraband monitoring center is further configured to:

perform the intervention operation based on the intervention plan and the alert.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the alert further includes an indication that the target device is approaching air space of the facility and a speed of the target device.

12. The system of claim 11, further comprising:

a projectile launcher, wherein the contraband monitoring center is further configured to;

perform the intervention operation by providing the indication that the target device is approaching the air space of the facility and the speed of the target device to the projectile launcher.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the projectile launcher is configured to launch one or more objects at the target device based on the indication and the speed of the target device.

14. The system of claim 11, further comprising:

a capture drone, wherein the contraband monitoring center is further configured to;

perform the intervention operation by providing the indication that the target device is approaching the air space of the facility and the speed of the target device to the capture drone.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the capture drone is configured to intercept the target device based on the indication and the speed of the target device.

21. A system for detecting and monitoring a target device unauthorized for use in a facility, the system comprising:

a detection device; and

a contraband monitoring center configured to;

receive an alert from the detection device indicating detection of the target device approaching air space of the facility, wherein the alert includes a time and a location of the detection device at the time the target device was detected;

develop an intervention plan for intervening with communications to or from the target device based on the alert;

generate a notification based on the intervention plan; and

transmit the notification to the detection device to activate an intervention operation associated with the intervention plan.

22. The system of claim 21, wherein the target device comprises an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the facility.

23. The system of claim 22, wherein the detection device is further configured to:

detect the UAV; and

generate the alert in response to the detecting.

24. A method for detecting and monitoring a target device unauthorized for use in a facility, the method comprising:

receiving an alert from a detection device at a contraband monitoring center indicating detection of the target device, wherein the alert includes a time and a location of the detection device at the time the target device was detected;

developing an intervention plan for intervening with communications to or from the target device based on the alert;

generating a notification based on the intervention plan; and

transmitting the notification to the detection device from the contraband monitoring center to activate an intervention operation associated with the intervention plan.

25. The method of claim 24, wherein the target device comprises an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the facility.
