Abstract

Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may include a hollow body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a bottom portion, a top portion, a plurality of ports on the bottom portion and a plurality of inner support portions in the hollow body portion. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.

21. A golf club head comprising:

a body portion comprising a first material, the body portion having an interior cavity, a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion with a crown portion, and a bottom portion, the crown portion having an opening;

a first polymer material in the interior cavity; and

a cover portion comprising a second material and a second polymer material, the cover portion being configured to couple to the crown portion to cover the opening of the crown portion,

wherein the second material is different from the first material.

22. A golf club head as defined in claim 21, wherein the first polymer material and the second polymer material comprise a similar polymer material.

23. A golf club head as defined in claim 21, wherein the second material comprises a composite material.

24. A golf club head as defined in claim 21, wherein the cover portion comprises a first layer portion comprising the second material, a second layer portion comprising the second material, and a third layer portion comprising the second polymer material, and wherein the third layer portion is disposed between the first layer portion and the second layer portion.

25. A golf club head as defined in claim 21, wherein the cover portion comprises a first layer portion comprising the second material, a second layer portion comprising the second material, and a third layer portion comprising the second polymer material, wherein the third layer portion is bonded to at least one of the first layer portion or the second layer portion.

26. A golf club head as defined in claim 21, wherein the bottom portion comprises at least one outer support portion or at least one inner support portion.

27. A golf club head as defined in claim 21 further comprising a plurality of weight portions on the bottom portion.

28. A golf club head as defined in claim 21, wherein the first polymer material in the body portion comprises an insert having a plurality of hexagonal recesses in a honeycomb configuration.

29. A golf club head comprising:

a body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion with a crown portion, and a bottom portion, the crown portion having an opening and a shoulder portion located below an outer surface of the crown portion; and

a cover portion coupled to the shoulder portion of the crown portion to cover the opening, the cover portion comprising a plurality of layer portions,

wherein at least one layer portion of the plurality of layer portions comprises a polymer material.

30. A golf club head as defined in claim 29, wherein at least one layer portion of the plurality of layer portions comprises a layer portion comprising a composite material.

31. A golf club head as defined in claim 29, wherein the plurality of layer portions comprises a first layer portion, a second layer portion, and a third layer portion, wherein the first and second layer portions comprise composite materials, and wherein the third layer portion comprises a polymer material disposed between the first and second layer portions.

32. A golf club head as defined in claim 29, wherein the bottom portion comprises at least one outer support portion and at least one inner support portion.

33. A golf club head as defined in claim 29 further comprising a plurality of weight portions on the bottom portion.

34. A golf club head as defined in claim 29, wherein the body portion includes an interior cavity and a polymer material at least partially filling the interior cavity.

35. A golf club head comprising:

a body portion comprising a first material, the body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion with a crown portion, and a bottom portion, wherein the crown portion comprises;

a first portion comprising a second material different from the first material;

a second portion comprising a third material different from the first material;

a third portion comprising a fourth material different from the first material, the second material and the third material, and

wherein the third portion is disposed between the first portion and the second portion.

36. A golf club head as defined in claim 35, wherein the second material and the third material comprise the same material.

37. A golf club head as defined in claim 35, wherein the fourth material comprises a polymer material.

38. A golf club head as defined in claim 35, wherein the first portion is a first layer portion of the crown portion, the second portion is a second layer portion of the crown portion, and the third portion is a third layer portion of the crown portion, and wherein at least one of the first layer portion or the second layer portion is attached to the third layer portion.

39. A golf club head as defined in claim 35, wherein the second material comprises a composite material and the fourth material comprises a polymer material.

40. A golf club head as defined in claim 35, wherein the third material comprises a composite material and the fourth material comprises a polymer material.
