SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING A MICROWAVE BEAM AND A POWER SETTING FOR WIRELESS POWER TRANSFER WITHIN A VOLUME

1. A method for determining a microwave beam and a power setting for wireless power transfer within a volume with a beamforming antenna controlled by an electronic processor, the method comprising:
- determining, with the electronic processor, a perimeter for the volume;
determining, with the electronic processor, a transmit power threshold based on the perimeter;
establishing, via a transceiver, a communication link with a mobile electronic device within the volume;
determining, with the electronic processor, a position of the mobile electronic device;
sensing, via a sensor, whether at least one person is located within the volume; and
when at least one person is located within the volume;
sensing, via the sensor, a position of the at least one person;
determining, with the electronic processor, the microwave beam based on the position of the mobile electronic device and the position of the at least one person; and
determining, with the electronic processor, the power setting for the microwave beam based on the position of the mobile electronic device, the position of the at least one person, the transmit power threshold, and a power density distribution for the microwave beam.
