1. A modular stock system for a firearm, comprising:
- a lower receiver;
a rail assembly extending forwardly from the lower receiver;
a buttstock assembly mounted rearwardly of the lower receiver, the buttstock assembly comprising;
a skeletonized frame including a substantially unitary body extending about and defining at least one laterally opening window,an elongated housing extending along the frame adjacent the at least one laterally opening window; and
a recoil reduction assembly including a mounting body received in the elongated housing, the recoil reduction assembly including a recoil strut within and extending rearwardly from the mounting body and a recoil pad mounted to a rearward end of the recoil strut.
