Abstract

Aspects of the present invention include a method, system and computer program product. The method includes a processor determining one or more functional areas of focus for a profiling effort for the specific customer; determining one or more general functional areas of interest to the business entity and to a general set of customers; determining which environments and workloads of the specific customer to focus on in the profiling effort; determining data collection components of a platform for baseline environment and workload information for use in a data collection request for the specific customer; specifying any command and configuration data for the platform; specifying a baseline environment and workload data collection duration; and generating a data collection request for the specific customer that includes the baseline environment and workload data collection duration and time frames and the command and configuration data for the platform.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

determining, by a processor, one or more functional areas of focus for a profiling effort for a specific customer;

determining, by the processor, one or more general functional areas of interest to a business entity and to a general set of customers, wherein the one or more general functional areas of interest are considered in the profiling effort;

determining, by the processor, which environments and workloads of the specific customer to focus on in the profiling effort;

determining, by the processor, data collection components of a platform for baseline environment and workload information for use in a data collection request for the specific customer;

specifying, by the processor, any command and configuration data for the platform;

specifying, by the processor, a baseline environment and workload data collection duration;

specifying, by the processor, baseline environment and workload data collection time frames; and

generating, by the processor, a data collection request for the specific customer that includes the baseline environment and workload data collection duration and time frames and the command and configuration data for the platform.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein determining, by a processor, one or more functional areas of focus for a profiling effort for a specific customer comprises collecting, by the processor, any relevant data from an account team for the specific customer.

The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein determining, by the processor, one or more general functional areas of interest to the business entity and to the general set of customers further comprises determining, by the processor, one or more targeted functional areas of focus for the specific customer.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein determining, by the processor, data collection components of a platform for baseline environment and workload information for use in a data collection request for the specific customer comprises determining, by the processor, any customer specific data collection for a functional area of focus of a situation of the specific customer.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein specifying, by the processor, a baseline environment and workload data collection duration comprises specifying, by the processor, a baseline environment and workload data collection duration to a customer situation.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein specifying, by the processor, baseline environment and workload data collection time frames comprises specifying, by the processor, the time frames for a customer specific environment and workload data collection situation.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 wherein the platform comprises a software operating system.

8. A system comprising:

a processor in communication with one or more types of memory, the processor configured to;

determine one or more functional areas of focus for a profiling effort for the specific customer;

determine one or more general functional areas of interest to the business entity and to a general set of customers, wherein the one or more general functional areas of interest are considered in the profiling effort;

determine which environments and workloads of the specific customer to focus on in the profiling effort;

determine data collection components of a platform for baseline environment and workload information for use in a data collection request for the specific customer;

specify any command and configuration data for the platform;

specify a baseline environment and workload data collection duration;

specify baseline environment and workload data collection time frames; and

generate a data collection request for the specific customer that includes the baseline environment and workload data collection duration and time frames and the command and configuration data for the platform.

9. The system of claim 8 wherein the processor configured to determine one or more functional areas of focus for a profiling effort for the specific customer comprises the processor configured to collect any relevant data from an account team for the specific customer.

The system of claim 8 wherein the processor configured to determine one or more general functional areas of interest to the business entity and to the general set of customers further comprises the processor configured to determine one or more targeted functional areas of focus for the specific customer.

11. The system of claim 8 wherein the processor configured to determine data collection components of a platform for baseline environment and workload information for use in a data collection request for the specific customer comprises the processor configured to comprises the processor configured to determine any customer specific data collection for a functional area of focus of a situation of the specific customer.

12. The system of claim 8 wherein the processor configured to specify a baseline environment and workload data collection duration comprises the processor configured to specify a baseline environment and workload data collection duration to a customer situation.

13. The system of claim 8 wherein the processor configured to specify baseline environment and workload data collection time frames comprises the processor configured to specify the time frames for a customer specific environment and workload data collection situation.

14. The system of claim 8 wherein the platform comprises a software operating system.

15. A computer program product comprising:

a non-transitory storage medium readable by a processing circuit and storing instructions for execution by the processing circuit for performing a method comprising;

determining one or more functional areas of focus for a profiling effort for the specific customer;

determining one or more general functional areas of interest to the business entity and to a general set of customers, wherein the one or more general functional areas of interest are considered in the profiling effort;

determining which environments and workloads of the specific customer to focus on in the profiling effort;

determining data collection components of a platform for baseline environment and workload information for use in a data collection request for the specific customer;

specifying any command configuration data for the platform;

specifying a baseline environment and workload data collection duration;

specifying baseline environment and workload data collection time frames; and

generating a data collection request for the specific customer that includes the baseline environment and workload data collection duration and time frames and the command and configuration data for the platform.

16. The computer program product of claim 15 wherein determining one or more functional areas of focus for a profiling effort for the specific customer comprises collecting any relevant data from an account team for the specific customer.

17. The computer program product of claim 15 wherein determining one or more general functional areas of interest to the business entity and to the general set of customers further comprises determining one or more targeted functional areas of focus for the specific customer.

18. The computer program product of claim 15 wherein determining data collection components of a platform for baseline environment and workload information for use in a data collection request for the specific customer comprises determining any customer specific data collection for a functional area of focus of a situation of the specific customer.

19. The computer program product of claim 15 wherein specifying a baseline environment and workload data collection duration comprises specifying a baseline environment and workload data collection duration to a customer situation.

20. The computer program product of claim 15 wherein specifying baseline environment and workload data collection time frames comprises specifying the time frames for a customer specific environment and workload data collection situation.
