Abstract

A heart valve system, the system including a radially self-expandable tubular body, a valve, and a tubular fabric. The tubular body having an inflow end and an outflow end. The valve being coupled to the tubular body and including a plurality of valve leaflets. The valve leaflet being supported by only two beams of the plurality of beams, and connection points linking the inflow end of the tubular body and the plurality of beams. A number of connection points being equivalent to a number of the valve leaflets. Additionally, each beam of the plurality of beams being directly connected to an adjacent beam so that the plurality of beams extends the entire circumferential length of the tubular body at the outflow end.

Claims

1. A heart valve system, the system comprising:

a radially self-expandable tubular body having an inflow end and an outflow end, the tubular body including a plurality of beams at the outflow end of the tubular body; and

a valve coupled to the outflow end of the tubular body such that an entirety of the valve is distal of the inflow end of the tubular body, the valve including a plurality of valve leaflets,

wherein;

each valve leaflet is supported by only two beams of the plurality of beams,

connection points link the inflow end of the tubular body and the plurality of beams, a number of connection points being equivalent to a number of the valve leaflets, and

each beam of the plurality of beams is directly connected to an adjacent beam so that the plurality of beams extends the entire circumferential length of the tubular body at the outflow end.

2. The system according to claim 1, wherein each valve leaflet is supported by the two beams such that the valve is directly connected to a fabric that is directly connected to the plurality of beams.

3. They system according to claim 1, wherein the connection points provide a decorrelation of movement between the inflow end of the tubular body and the plurality of beams.

4. The system according to claim 3, wherein all direct links between the inflow end of the tubular body and the plurality of beams are provided only by the connection points.

5. The system according to claim 3, wherein the connection points are configured such that the plurality of beams has an attenuated movement in reaction to movement of the inflow end of the tubular body.

6. The system according to claim 3, wherein the connection points are configured so as to absorb movement from the inflow end of the tubular body so that the movement is not completely transferred to the plurality of beams.

7. The system according to claim 1, wherein the tubular body includes struts with peaks and valleys at the inflow end of the tubular body, the peaks and valleys configured such that movement of the peaks radially inward causes the valleys to flare radially outward.

8. The system according to claim 7, wherein the valleys are located closer to the outflow end of the tubular body than the peaks.

9. The system according to claim 7, further including a fabric disposed on an outer surface of the tubular body configured such that movement of the valleys radially outward causes the fabric to flare radially outward.

10. The system according to claim 1, wherein the plurality of beams includes only six beams.

11. The system according to claim 1, wherein the connection points include only three connection points.

12. A heart valve system, the system comprising:

a radially self-expandable tubular body having an inflow end and an outflow end; and

a valve coupled to the tubular body, the valve including a plurality of valve leaflets,

wherein;

the valve is coupled to the outflow end of the tubular body such that the valve leaflets extend distally of the outflow end of the tubular body in an outflow direction, and

the inflow end of the tubular body is connected to the outflow end of the tubular body at connection points, a number of connection points being equivalent to a number of the valve leaflets.

13. The system according to claim 12, wherein:

the outflow end of the tubular body includes a plurality of beams and a proximal section,

the plurality of beams extends the entire circumferential length of the tubular body at the outflow end,

the plurality of beams are disposed distally of the proximal section in the outflow direction, and

movement of the proximal section radially inward causes the inflow end of the tubular body to flare radially outward.

14. The system according to claim 13, wherein the connection points are disposed in the proximal section.

15. The system according to claim 12, wherein the outflow end of the tubular body includes a plurality of beams, each valve leaflet being supported by only two beams of the plurality of beams.

16. The system according to claim 15, wherein each valve leaflet is supported by the two beams such that the valve is directly connected to a fabric that is directly connected to the plurality of beams.

17. The system according to claim 12, wherein the inflow end of the tubular body includes struts with an S-shape.

18. The system according to claim 12, wherein the tubular body includes struts with peaks and valleys at the inflow end of the tubular body, the peaks and valleys configured such that movement of the peaks radially inward causes the valleys to flare radially outward.

19. The system according to claim 18, further including a fabric disposed on an outer surface of the tubular body such that movement of the valleys radially outward causes the fabric to flare radially outward.

20. The system according to claim 13, wherein the plurality of beams has an attenuated movement in reaction to movement of the inflow end of the tubular body.
