Abstract

There is disclosed a server for providing content, the server being configured to: receive a request defining one or more characteristics of content; access content from a plurality of content sources; and determine content responsive to the request in dependence on the accessed content.

Claims

1. A server for providing content, the server being configured to:

receive a first request defining one or more characteristics of the content;

transmit a second request to a plurality of content sources;

receive the content from at least one of the plurality of content sources;

determine the content responsive to the first request in dependence on the received content; and

transmit the determined content responsive to the first request.

3. The server of claim 1 further configured to receive feedback relating to the transmitted content from one or more devices in receipt of the transmitted content.

4. The server of claim 3 further configured to determine the content additionally in dependence on the feedback.

6. The server according to claim 1, wherein the received content is streamed content and the content is configured to be transmitted as a single stream.

8. The server of claim 1 further configured to determine the plurality of content sources to transmit the second request to.

9. The server of claim 8 wherein the server determines the plurality of content sources most likely to be associated with the characteristics of the first request.

11. The server of claim 1 further configured to transmit a third request to content sources to enhance request fulfilment provided by existing content.

13. The server of claim 1 wherein the first request defines a time period for which the content is requested.

14. The server of claim 1 wherein the first request defines an event for which the content is requested.

16. The server of claim 1 wherein the first request is received from a rights holder, the determined content being rights holder content.

35. The server of claim 3 wherein the feedback provides an evaluation of a content source contributing to the transmitted determined output.

36. The server of claim 1 wherein the server maintains the first request as pending if the first request cannot be fulfilled.

37. The server of claim 1 wherein the server maintains the first request as pending if the request is fulfilled, to further deliver content from additional content sources based on the first request.

38. The server of claim 1 wherein the plurality of content sources are a plurality of users, each user associated with one or more devices.

40. The server of claim 9 wherein the server determines the plurality of content sources further in dependence on previous content received at the server from the plurality of content sources.

18. A method for providing content, the method comprising:

receiving a first request defining one or more characteristics of the content;

transmitting a second request to a plurality of content sources;

receiving the content from at least one of the plurality of content sources;

determining the content responsive to the first request in dependence on the received content; and

transmitting the determined content responsive to the first request.

20. The method of claim 18 further comprising:

receiving feedback relating to the output content from one or more users in receipt of the transmitted content.

determining the plurality of content sources most likely to be associated with characteristics of the first request in dependence on previous content received at the server from the the plurality of content sources, wherein the second request is transmitted to the determined content sources.

39. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing a program causing a computer to provide content, the providing of content comprising:

receiving a first request defining one or more characteristics of the content;

transmitting a second request to a plurality of content sources;

receiving the content from at least one of the plurality of content sources;

determining the content responsive to the first request in dependence on the received content; and

transmitting the determined content responsive to the first request.
