Measuring the Percentage of the Forest Cover
First Claim
1. - A forest canopy percentage (FCP) measuring device and method of use, comprising the steps of:
- a) Placing said FCP device at an area without any tree or light blocking obstacle (empty space);
b) Reading sunlight beams reaching a sensor of said FCP device at said empty space,c) Recording and programming said FCP device at MAX light intensity of 1000 LUX;
d) And Setting MIN percentage of forest canopy to 0%;
e) Then placing said FCP device at a fully covered area of trees were no light beam reaches said sensor;
f) Recording any readings of said sensor of any of said sunlight beams that directly reach said sensor;
g) Programming and recording said FCP device at MIN light intensity of 0 LUX;
h) And setting MAX percentage of forest canopy to 100%;
i) Programming said FCP device at LUX intensities of 0 to 1000 by directing different lights to said sensor to determine all the ranges between said two MIN and MAX intensities;
j) Placing said FCP device at a desired location in a forest and determining said forest percentage coverage and displaying said percentage on an LCD screen of said device.

Abstract
The device measuring the percentage of forest canopy based on the system of the radiation of sunlight and light reception and processing according to the light reception rate and the creation of Solidarity and the connection with forest canopy structure that had a direct effect to one another as the existence of canopy that was a light barrier has been made. In this device, the structure of the canopy is the main base and the amount of light passing through the structure, on the basis of rigorous and proven scientific criteria of light intensity was the foundation of construction.
