Abstract

Various embodiments relate generally to data science and data analysis, and computer software and systems, to provide an interface between repositories of disparate datasets and computing machine-based entities that seek access to the datasets, and, more specifically, to a computing and data storage platform that facilitates consolidation of one or more datasets, whereby user interfaces may be implemented as computerized tools for presenting summarization of dataset attributes to facilitate discovery, formation, and analysis of interrelated collaborative datasets. In some examples, a method may include receiving data resulting from insight calculations. Insight calculations may be based on a derived dataset attribute. Also, the method may include presenting a data arrangement overview summarizing the data attributes as an aggregation of data attributes in a portion of the user interface. The data arrangement overview may include an interactive display of a distribution associated with a collaborative atomized dataset.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving data to form a first input via a user interface as a first user interface element to initiate creation of a dataset based on a set of data;

causing transformation of the set of data from a first format to an atomized format to form an atomized dataset;

receiving data at a processor resulting from insight calculations on the set of data, the insight calculations based on a derived dataset attribute and associated values; and

presenting a data arrangement overview summarizing the data attributes as an aggregation of data attributes in a portion of the user interface, the data arrangement overview including an interactive display of a distribution of a subset of values for a data arrangement associated with a collaborative atomized dataset.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein presenting the data arrangement overview including the interactive display of the distribution of the subset of values comprises:

presenting graphically a shape of the data based on the values of a subset of the dataset attributes for a column.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

activating a programmatic interface to facilitate the creation of the dataset responsive to receiving the first input; and

causing a calculation operation on the set of data to derive the values and the aggregation of dataset attributes upon completion of uploading the set of data.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

causing a calculation operation on the set of data to derive the values and the aggregation of dataset attributes as the set of data is uploaded.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

receiving data to form a second input via the user interface as a second user interface element to collaborate with another dataset, which is a protected atomized dataset;

transmitting authorization data to access the protected atomized dataset; and

linking another set of data for the protected atomized data set to the set of data for the consolidated atomized dataset.

6. The method of claim 5 further comprising:

receiving data indicating insight re-calculations is performed on a combination of data based on the another set of data linked to the set of data to derive updated aggregated dataset attributes and associated updated values; and

presenting the data arrangement overview summarizing the updated aggregated data attributes in the portion of the user interface,

wherein the data arrangement overview includes an updated interactive display of the distribution for the combination of data.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein presenting the data arrangement overview summarizing the data attributes comprises:

presenting the data arrangement overview summarizing each data arrangement as a column in a linear arrangement; and

presenting a dataset attribute in a column overview orthogonal to a linear arrangement of columns to form an orthogonal arrangement,

wherein the orthogonal arrangement of the dataset attribute includes derived values.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein receiving the data that indicates the insight calculations are based on the derived dataset attribute and the associated values comprises:

receiving an annotation for at least one of the data arrangements; and

presenting the annotation for the at least one of the data arrangements,

wherein the data arrangements are columns.

9. The method of claim 8 further comprising:

linking another set of data associated with another atomized dataset to the set of data associated with the consolidated atomized dataset.

10. The method of claim 9 wherein the another set of data associated with the another atomized dataset is an external dataset.

11. The method of claim 1 wherein receiving the data that indicates the insight calculations are based on the derived dataset attribute and the associated values comprise:

receiving a data type for at least one subset of a number of subsets of data arrangements; and

presenting the data type for at least one subset of the data arrangements.

12. The method of claim 11 wherein the data type includes one or more of a string data type, a numeric data type, a categorical data type, a Boolean data type, a derived classification data type, a date data type, a time data type, and a geolocation data type.

13. The method of claim 1 wherein receiving the data indicating the derived aggregated dataset attributes and associated values comprise:

receiving data representing a quantity of empty data cells the data arrangement; and

presenting the quantity of empty data cells for the data arrangement.

14. The method of claim 1 wherein receiving the data indicating the derived aggregated dataset attributes and associated values comprises:

receiving data representing a quantity of distinct values of a dataset attribute for the data arrangement; and

presenting the distinct values of the dataset attribute for the data arrangement.

15. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

presenting a link as a fifth user interface element to cause presentation of a data preview in the portion of the user interface.

16. The method of claim 15 further comprising:

receiving a data signal indicating selection of the link to the data preview; and

causing the presentation of the data preview,

wherein the set of data is presented in a tabular format in that each cell in a data arrangement includes a specific value for a corresponding row of data.

17. The method of claim 1 wherein the atomized dataset and the other dataset include subsets of linked data points.

18. The method of claim 17 wherein linked data points comprise triples.

19. The method of claim 18 wherein at least one triple of the triples are formatted to comply with a Resource Description Framework (“

RDF”

) data model.

20. An apparatus comprising:

a memory including executable instructions; and

a processor, responsive to executing the instructions, is configured to;

receive data to form a first input via a user interface as a first user interface element to initiate creation of a dataset based on a set of data;

cause transformation of the set of data from a first format to an atomized format to form an atomized dataset;

receive data at a processor resulting from insight calculations on the set of data, the insight calculations based on a derived dataset attribute and associated values; and

present a data arrangement overview summarizing the data attributes as an aggregation of data attributes in a portion of the user interface, the data arrangement overview including an interactive display of a distribution of a subset of values for a data arrangement associated with a collaborative atomized dataset.
