Abstract

Disclosed herein are devices and methods allowing for the rapid storage of power on mobile units that in some case do not have a power source. The disclosed devices and methods allow for such mobile units to power one or more electronic components located on the mobile units. In addition, the devices and methods disclosed herein allow for the inclusion of electronic components such as high-definition displays and computers that require large amount

Claims

1. A rapid-charging device for powering one or more electronic components on a mobile unit, the device comprising:

a) a first element connected to one or more capacitors;

wherein the one or more capacitors are connected to one or more electronic components by a conductive link,

wherein the first element, capacitors, and one or more electronic components are positioned on the mobile unit; and

b) a second element, wherein the second element is connected to an electricity source and is positioned at a location other than the mobile unit,

wherein the first element comes into close proximity of the second element as the mobile unit moves to the location of the second element.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein the first element and the second element are each charging coils.

3. The device of claim 1, wherein the first element is a wiper and the second element is configured to make contact with the first element.

4. The device of claim 3, wherein the first element is a brush and the second element is configured to make contact with the first element.

5. The device of either of claim 3 or 4, wherein the second element is a rail.

6. The device of claim 1 further comprising a voltage regulator.

7. The device of claim 1, wherein the one or more electronic components comprise an electronic multimedia component.

8. The device of claim 3, wherein the electronic multimedia component comprises an electronic visual display.

9. The device of claim 8, wherein the electronic multimedia component comprises a USB port.

10. The device of claim 1, wherein the one or more electronic components each comprise a battery that is connected to the one or more capacitors.

11. The device of claim 1, wherein the electronic components are selected from the group consisting of WiFi router, heating element, computer, computer-readable memory, audio system, display, charger, and radio.

12. The device of claim 1, wherein the one or more capacitors are arranged in series.

13. The device of claim 1, wherein the one or more capacitors are connected to one or more lithium batteries.

14. The device of claim 1, wherein the one or more capacitors are connected in parallel to the one or more electronic components.

15. The device of claim 1, wherein the mobile unit is selected from the group consisting of chairlift, gondola, tram, monorail, and amusement park ride.

16. The device of claim 1, wherein the second element is located at a base station.

17. The device of claim 1, wherein the second element is stationary and creates a charging zone in which the first element and second element come into close proximity to allow the second element to transfer electricity to the first element moves into the charging zone.

18. The device of claim 17, wherein the first element moves with the mobile unit into the charging zone and the one or more capacitors are charged.

19. The device of claim 18, wherein the first element moves with the mobile unit out of the charging zone and into a discharging zone whereby the one or more capacitors discharge by providing power to the one or more electronic components.

20. The device of claim 1, wherein the electronic media component comprises one or more batteries connected to the one or more capacitors.

21. The device of claim 1, wherein the first element and one or more capacitors are positioned on the mobile unit in a position in which the first element is stationary.

22. The device of claim 15, wherein the first element is positioned on the grip of the chairlift.

23. A method of powering one or more electronic components located on a mobile unit, the method comprising:

a) attaching a first element to the mobile unit;

b) connecting the first element to one or more capacitors, wherein the one or more capacitors are further connected to one or more electronic components on the mobile unit

c) attaching a second element to a base station such that the one or more capacitors are charged when the mobile unit moves the first element into the base station to be in close proximity to the second element;

d) charging the one or more capacitors when the mobile unit moves into the base station; and

e) discharging the one or more capacitors to power the one or more electronic components when the mobile unit moves from the base station.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein the first element and the second element are each charging coils.

25. The method of claim 23, wherein the first element is a wiper and the second element is configured to make contact with the first element.

26. The method of claim 23, wherein the first element is a brush and the second element is configured to make contact with the first element.

27. The device of either of claim 25 or 26, wherein the second element is a rail.

28. The method of claim 23, wherein the one or more electronic components comprise an electronic multimedia component.

29. The method of claim 28, wherein the electronic multimedia component comprises an electronic visual display.

30. The method of claim 28, wherein the electronic multimedia component comprises a USB port.

31. The method of claim 23, wherein the one or more electronic components each comprise a battery connected to the one or more capacitors.

32. The method of claim 31, wherein the electronic components are selected from the group consisting of WiFi router, heating element, computer, computer-readable memory, audio system, display, charger, and radio.

33. The method of claim 31, wherein the one or more capacitors are arranged in series.

34. The method of claim 31, wherein the one or more capacitors are connected to one or more lithium batteries.

35. The method of claim 31, wherein the one or more capacitors are connected in parallel to the one or more electronic components.

36. The method of claim 31, wherein the mobile unit is selected from the group consisting of chairlift, gondola, tram, monorail, and amusement park ride.

37. The method of claim 31 further comprising moving the mobile unit when outside of the base station to allow for providing of power to the one or more electronic components while minimizing the probability that the one or more capacitors will discharge completely prior to entering the base station.

38. The method of claim 23, wherein the electronic media component comprises one or more batteries connected to the one or more capacitors.

39. The method of claim 23, wherein the first element and one or more capacitors are positioned on the mobile unit in a position in which the first element is stationary.

40. The method of claim 23, wherein the first element is positioned on a grip of a chairlift.

41. The method of claim 23, wherein the first element is positioned on a safety bar of a chairlift.
