Abstract

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for narrowband (NB) LTE operation. A WTRU may receive a first downlink data transmission, for example, via a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH). The WTRU may determine to send a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgment (ACK) in response to receipt of the first downlink data transmission. The WTRU may transmit a first uplink reference signal. The WTRU may indicate the HARQ-ACK using a first cyclic shift index that is applied to the first uplink reference signal. The WTRU may determine to send a HARQ negative ACK (HARQ-NACK), for example, on a condition that a second downlink data transmission is not correctly received. The WTRU may send a second uplink reference signal. The WTRU may indicate the HARQ-NACK using a second cyclic shift that is applied to the second uplink reference signal.

21. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

a memory; and

a processor configured to;

receive a downlink data transmission via a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH);

determine whether to send a hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgment (HARQ-ACK) or a HARQ negative ACK (HARQ-NACK) in response to the downlink data transmission;

on a condition that the WTRU determines to send the HARQ-ACK, the WTRU transmitting a first cyclic shift index to indicate the HARQ-ACK; and

on a condition that the WTRU determines to send the HARQ-NACK, the WTRU transmitting a second cyclic shift index to indicate the HARQ-NACK.

22. The WTRU of claim 21, wherein the WTRU determines to send the HARQ-ACK when the downlink data transmission is received correctly, and wherein the WTRU determines to send the HARQ-NACK when the downlink data transmission is not correctly received.

23. The WTRU of claim 21, wherein the first cyclic shift index is sent using a first sequence of an uplink signal, and wherein the second cyclic shift index is sent using a second sequence of the uplink signal.

24. The WTRU of claim 23, wherein the first sequence and the second sequence use a base sequence and the first cyclic shift index is different than the second cyclic shift index, and wherein the base sequence is a Zadoff-Chu sequence.

25. The WTRU of claim 23, wherein the downlink data transmission is received in a first subframe and the uplink signal is sent in a second subframe.

26. The WTRU of claim 21, wherein the processor is further configured to receive downlink control information (DCI) that indicates that the first cyclic shift index is to be used for the HARQ-ACK and that the second cyclic shift index is to be used for the HARQ-NACK.

27. The WTRU of claim 26, wherein the DCI indicates a cyclic shift group index that comprises the first cyclic shift index and the second cyclic shift index.

28. The WTRU of claim 21, wherein a distance between the first cyclic shift index and the second cyclic shift index is 6.

29. A method of acknowledgment (ACK), the method comprising:

a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receiving a downlink data transmission via a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH);

the WTRU determining whether to send a hybrid automatic repeat request ACK (HARQ-ACK) or a HARQ negative ACK (HARQ-NACK) in response to the downlink data transmission;

on a condition that the WTRU determines to send the HARQ-ACK, the WTRU transmitting a first cyclic shift index to indicate the HARQ-ACK; and

on a condition that the WTRU determines to send the HARQ-NACK, the WTRU transmitting a second cyclic shift index to indicate the HARQ-NACK.

30. The method of claim 29, wherein the WTRU determines to send the HARQ-ACK when the downlink data transmission is received correctly, and wherein the WTRU determines to send the HARQ-NACK when the downlink data transmission is not correctly received.

31. The method of claim 29, wherein the first cyclic shift index is sent using a first sequence of an uplink signal, and wherein the second cyclic shift index is sent using a second sequence of the uplink signal.

32. The method of claim 31, wherein the first sequence and the second sequence use a base sequence and the first cyclic shift index is different than the second cyclic shift index, and wherein the base sequence is a Zadoff-Chu sequence.

33. The method of claim 31, wherein the downlink data transmission is received in a first subframe and the uplink signal is sent in a second subframe.

34. The method of claim 29, further comprising the WTRU receiving downlink control information (DCI) that indicates that the first cyclic shift index is to be used for the HARQ-ACK and that the second cyclic shift index is to be used for the HARQ-NACK.

35. The method of claim 29, wherein a distance between the first cyclic shift index and the second cyclic shift index is 6.
