Abstract

Provided is a method and apparatus for transmitting/receiving downlink control information (DCI). DCI is set to have different DCI formats according to a coverage enhancement (CE) mode of a user equipment. In the case of a DL grant, the DCI is set according to a first DCI format when the CE mode of the user equipment is CE Mode A, and the DCI is set according to a second DCI format when the CE mode of the user equipment is CE Mode B. In the case of a UL grant, the DCI is set according to a third DCI format when the CE mode of the user equipment is CE Mode A, and the DCI is set according to a fourth DCI format when the CE mode of the user equipment is CE Mode B.

Claims

1. A method of receiving downlink control information (DCI) by a user equipment (UE), the method comprising:

determining a coverage enhancement (CE) mode of the UE;

decoding a downlink (DL) grant DCI; and

receiving a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) according to the DL grant DCI,

wherein the DL grant DCI is decoded according to a first DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode A and the DL grant DCI is decoded according to a second DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode B, and

wherein the first DCI format and the second DCI format are different in at least a physical resource block (PRB) assignment field for DL reception, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process number field, a transmit power control (TPC) command field for a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), or a redundancy version (RV) field.

2. The method of claim 1,

wherein the first DCI format includes the PRB assignment field for DL reception, the HARQ process number field, the TPC command for the PUCCH, and the RV field, and

wherein the PRB assignment field for DL reception, the HARQ process number field, the TPC command field for the PUCCH, or the RV field is not included in the second DCI format or is shorter than in the first DCI format.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising

decoding uplink (UL) grant DCI;

and

transmitting a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) according to the UL grant DCI, wherein the UL grant DCI is decoded according to a third DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode A and the UL grant DCI is decoded according to a fourth DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode B, and

wherein the third DCI format and the fourth DCI format are different in at least a PRB assignment field for UL transmission, a TPC command field for a scheduled PUSCH, a channel state information (CSI) request field, or a sounding reference signal (SRS) request field.

4. The method of claim 3,

wherein the third DCI format includes the PRB assignment field for UL transmission, the TPC command field for the scheduled PUSCH, the CSI request field, and the SRS field, and

wherein the PRB assignment field for UL transmission, the TPC command field for the scheduled PUSCH, the CSI request field, or the SRS field is not included in the fourth DCI format or is shorter than in the third DCI format.

5. The method of claim 1,

wherein the CE mode of the UE is determined to be a CE mode corresponding to a physical random access channel (PRACH) resource used by the UE in a successful random access procedure or a CE mode configured by a base station.

6. A user equipment (UE) for receiving downlink control information (DCI), the UE comprising:

a radio frequency (RF) unit; and

a processor connected to the RF unit,

wherein the processor is configured to

determine a coverage enhancement (CE) mode of the UE,

decode a downlink (DL) grant DCI, and

control the RF unit to receive a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) according to the DL grant DCI,

wherein the DL grant DCI is decoded according to a first DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode A and the DL grant DCI is decoded according to a second DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode B, and

wherein the first DCI format and the second DCI format are different in at least a physical resource block (PRB) assignment field for DL reception, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process number field, a transmit power control (TPC) command field for a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), or a redundancy version (RV) field.

7. The UE of claim 6,

wherein the first DCI format includes the PRB assignment field for DL reception, the HARQ process number field, the TPC command for the PUCCH, and the RV field, and

wherein the PRB assignment field for DL reception, the HARQ process number field, the TPC command field for the PUCCH, or the RV field is not included in the second DCI format or is shorter than in the first DCI format.

8. The UE of claim 6,

wherein the processor is configured to decode uplink (UL) grant DCI and control the RF unit to transmit a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) according to the UL grant DCI,

wherein the UL grant DCI is decoded according to a third DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode A and the UL grant DCI is decoded according to a fourth DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode B, and

wherein the third DCI format and the fourth DCI format are different in at least a PRB assignment field for UL transmission, a TPC command field for a scheduled PUSCH, a channel state information (CSI) request field, or a sounding reference signal (SRS) request field.

9. The UE of claim 8,

wherein the third DCI format includes the PRB assignment field for UL transmission, the TPC command field for the scheduled PUSCH, the CSI request field, and the SRS field, and

wherein the PRB assignment field for UL transmission, the TPC command field for the scheduled PUSCH, the CSI request field, or the SRS field is not included in the fourth DCI format or is shorter than in the third DCI format.

10. The UE of claim 6,

wherein the CE mode of the UE is determined to be a CE mode corresponding to a physical random access channel (PRACH) resource used by the UE in a successful random access procedure or a CE mode configured by a base station.

11. A method of transmitting downlink control information (DCI) to a user equipment (UE) by a base station (BS), the method comprising:

determining a coverage enhancement (CE) mode of the UE;

transmitting a downlink (DL) DCI to the UE; and

transmitting a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) to the UE according to the DL grant DCI,

wherein the DL grant DCI is transmitted according to a first DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode A and the DL grant DCI is transmitted according to a second DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode B, and

wherein the first DCI format and the second DCI format are different in at least a physical resource block (PRB) assignment field for DL reception, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process number field, a transmit power control (TPC) command field for a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), or a redundancy version (RV) field.

12. The method of claim 11,

wherein the first DCI format includes the PRB assignment field for DL reception, the HARQ process number field, the TPC command for the PUCCH, and the RV field, and

wherein the PRB assignment field for DL reception, the HARQ process number field, the TPC command field for the PUCCH, or the RV field is not included in the second DCI format or is shorter than in the first DCI format.

13. The method of claim 11, further comprising

transmitting uplink (UL) grant DCI to the UE;

and

receiving a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) according to the UL grant DCI,

wherein the UL grant DCI is transmitted according to a third DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode A and the UL grant DCI is transmitted according to a fourth DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode B, and

wherein the third DCI format and the fourth DCI format are different in at least a PRB assignment field for UL transmission, a TPC command field for a scheduled PUSCH, a channel state information (CSI) request field, or a sounding reference signal (SRS) request field.

14. The method of claim 13,

wherein the third DCI format includes the PRB assignment field for UL transmission, the TPC command field for the scheduled PUSCH, the CSI request field, and the SRS field, and

wherein the PRB assignment field for UL transmission, the TPC command field for the scheduled PUSCH, the CSI request field, or the SRS field is not included in the fourth DCI format or is shorter than in the third DCI format.

15. The method of claim 11,

wherein the CE mode of the UE is determined to be a CE mode corresponding to a physical random access channel (PRACH) resource used by the UE in a successful random access procedure or a CE mode configured by the BS.

16. A base station (BS) for transmitting downlink control information (DCI) to a user equipment (UE), the BS comprising:

a radio frequency (RF) unit; and

a processor connected to the RF unit,

wherein the processor is configured to

determine a coverage enhancement (CE) mode of the UE,

control the RF unit to transmit a downlink (DL) DCI to the UE, and

control the RF unit to transmit a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) to the UE according to the DL grant DCI,

wherein the DL grant DCI is transmitted according to a first DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode A and the DL grant DCI is transmitted according to a second DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode B, and

wherein the first DCI format and the second DCI format are different in at least a physical resource block (PRB) assignment field for DL reception, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process number field, a transmit power control (TPC) command field for a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), or a redundancy version (RV) field.

17. The BS of claim 16,

wherein the first DCI format includes the PRB assignment field for DL reception, the HARQ process number field, the TPC command for the PUCCH, and the RV field, and

wherein the PRB assignment field for DL reception, the HARQ process number field, the TPC command field for the PUCCH, or the RV field is not included in the second DCI format or is shorter than in the first DCI format.

18. The BS of claim 16,

wherein the processor is configured to control the RF unit to transmit uplink (UL) grant DCI to the UE and control the RF unit to receive a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) according to the UL grant DCI,

wherein the UL grant DCI is transmitted according to a third DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode A and the UL grant DCI is transmitted according to a fourth DCI format when the CE mode of the UE is CE Mode B, and

wherein the third DCI format and the fourth DCI format are different in at least a PRB assignment field for UL transmission, a TPC command field for a scheduled PUSCH, a channel state information (CSI) request field, or a sounding reference signal (SRS) request field.

19. The BS of claim 18,

wherein the third DCI format includes the PRB assignment field for UL transmission, the TPC command field for the scheduled PUSCH, the CSI request field, and the SRS field, and

wherein the PRB assignment field for UL transmission, the TPC command field for the scheduled PUSCH, the CSI request field, or the SRS field is not included in the fourth DCI format or is shorter than in the third DCI format.

20. The BS of claim 16,

wherein the CE mode of the UE is determined to be a CE mode corresponding to a physical random access channel (PRACH) resource used by the UE in a successful random access procedure or a CE mode configured by the BS.
