Abstract

A user sets a format of an advertise packet to be transmitted from a plurality of formats using a setting screen displayed on a printing apparatus, and the printing apparatus transmits an advertise packet according to the setting made via the setting screen.

Claims

1. A printing apparatus which performs a wireless communication based on Bluetooth®

Low Energy, and which performs print processing based on print data received from an external apparatus, the printing apparatus comprising;

a setting unit configured to set whether to perform transmission or not, settings being made for each of a first type of an advertise packet of the Bluetooth®

Low Energy and a second type of the advertise packet of the Bluetooth®

Low Energy, a format of the second type of the advertise packet being different from a format of the first type of advertise packet; and

a wireless communication unit configured to transmit the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet in accordance with setting by the setting unit,

wherein one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet is an advertise packet that is in a format corresponding to a print application installed in the external apparatus.

2. The printing apparatus according to claim 1,

wherein the wireless communication unit transmits the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet using time division in a case where it is set by the setting unit that the transmission be performed for both of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet.

3. The printing apparatus according to claim 2,

wherein the wireless communication unit transmits the other of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet after a lapse of predetermined time from a start of transmitting one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet.

4. The printing apparatus according to claim 2,

wherein the wireless communication unit transmits the first type of the advertise packet at first intervals and transmits the second type of the advertise packet at second intervals.

5. The printing apparatus according to claim 4,

wherein the first interval and the second interval are same value.

6. The printing apparatus according to claim 4,

wherein a value of the first interval is different from a value of the second interval.

7. The printing apparatus according to claim 2,

wherein the wireless communication unit transmits one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet a plurality of times and transmits after the transmission of the one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet, another one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet a plurality of times.

8. The printing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising;

a display unit configured to display a setting screen for setting whether to perform the transmission or not for each of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet,

wherein the setting unit makes the settings by accepting a user operation via the setting screen displayed on the display unit.

9. A printing apparatus which performs a wireless communication based on Bluetooth®

Low Energy, the printing apparatus comprising;

a print processing unit configured to perform print processing based on print data received from an external apparatus; and

a wireless communication unit configured to transmit, using time division, a plurality of types of an advertise packet of the Bluetooth®

Low Energy that differ in format,

wherein the plurality of types of the advertise packet include an advertise packet that is in a format corresponding to a print application installed in the external apparatus.

10. The printing apparatus according to claim 9,

wherein the wireless communication unit transmits the other of a first type of the advertise packet and a second type of the advertise packet after a lapse of predetermined time from a start of transmitting one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet.

11. The printing apparatus according to claim 9,

wherein the wireless communication unit transmits the first type of the advertise packet at first intervals and transmits the second type of the advertise packet at second interval.

12. The printing apparatus according to claim 11,

wherein the first interval and the second interval are same value.

13. The printing apparatus according to claim 11,

wherein a value of the first interval is different from a value of the second interval.

14. The printing apparatus according to claim 9,

wherein the wireless communication unit transmits one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet a plurality of times and transmits after the transmission of the one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet, another one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet a plurality of times.

15. A method for controlling a printing apparatus which performs a wireless communication based on Bluetooth®

Low Energy, and which performs print processing based on print data received from an external apparatus, the method comprising;

setting whether to perform transmission or not, settings being made for each of a first type of an advertise packet of the Bluetooth®

Low Energy and a second type of the advertise packet of the Bluetooth®

Low Energy, a format of the second type of the advertise packet being different from a format of the first type of advertise packet; and

transmitting the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet in accordance with settings,

wherein one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet is an advertise packet that is in a format corresponding to a print application installed in the external apparatus.

16. The method according to claim 15,

wherein transmitting the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet using time division in a case where it is set that the transmission be performed for both of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet.

17. The method according to claim 16,

wherein transmitting the other of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet after a lapse of predetermined time from a start of transmitting one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet.

18. The method according to claim 16,

wherein transmitting the first type of the advertise packet at first intervals and transmits the second type of the advertise packet at second intervals.

19. The method according to claim 18,

wherein the first interval and the second interval are same value.

20. The method according to claim 18,

wherein a value of the first interval is different from a value of the second interval.

21. The printing apparatus according to claim 16,

wherein transmitting one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet a plurality of times and transmits after the transmission of the one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet, another one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet a plurality of times.

22. The method according to claim 15, further comprising;

displaying a setting screen for setting whether to perform the transmission or not for each of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet,

wherein making the settings by accepting a user operation via the setting screen displayed on the display unit.

23. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing computer executable instructions for causing a computer to execute a method for controlling a printing apparatus which performs a wireless communication based on Bluetooth®

Low Energy, the method comprising;

performing print processing based on print data received from an external apparatus; and

transmitting, using time division, a plurality of types of an advertise packet of the Bluetooth®

Low Energy that differ in format,

wherein the plurality of types of the advertise packet include an advertise packet that is in a format corresponding to a print application installed in the external apparatus.

24. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 23,

wherein transmitting the other of a first type of the advertise packet and a second type of the advertise packet after a lapse of predetermined time from a start of transmitting one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet.

25. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 23,

wherein transmitting the first type of the advertise packet at first intervals and transmits the second type of the advertise packet at second interval.

26. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 25,

wherein the first interval and the second interval are same value.

27. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 25,

wherein a value of the first interval is different from a value of the second interval.

28. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 23,

wherein transmitting one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet a plurality of times and transmits after the transmission of the one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet, another one of the first type of the advertise packet and the second type of the advertise packet a plurality of times.
