- receiving a request for access to resources;
determining whether an energy storage device that provides power to the EV is electrically coupled to a charging station;
determining a charge status of the energy storage device; and
granting access to the resources based on;
the determination of whether the EV is coupled to the charging station; and
the determination of the charge status of the energy storage device.

Abstract
A method for operating an electric vehicle (EV) includes receiving a request for access to resources, determining whether an energy storage device that provides power to the EV is electrically coupled to a charging station, determining a charge status of the energy storage device, and granting access to the resources based on the determination of whether the EV is coupled to the charging station, and the charge status of the energy storage device. The method can further determining whether a user making the request is one of a set of approved users of the EV, and determining whether one of the set of approved users is currently using the EV. Granting access to the resources may be based on when the user is not one of a set of approved users of the EV, and one of the set of approved users is not currently using the EV.
