Abstract

Electrical energy which has been provided for a given session (e.g. for charging an electric vehicle), but was not called up (required), can be otherwise used for at least one other session. The available electrical energy can be divided efficiently between the sessions in accordance with the actually required energy. Further, a plan set prior to this allocation requires only a low, or zero, degree of predictive accuracy since the amounts of assigned electrical energy can be corrected during the charging process. This is useful, for example, in electro-mobility and load management when charging a plurality of electric vehicles.

22. A method for providing electrical energy, the method comprising:

providing electrical energy for a running session and making available at least a proportion of the electrical energy provided for the running session, which proportion has not been called up, to at least one other session that is running in parallel, wherein the proportion of the electrical energy, which has not been called up, is free or has not been requested;

providing the at least the proportion of the electrical energy made available for the running session but has not been called up to the at least one other session running in parallel if at least the proportion of the electrical energy provided for the running session, but not called up, reaches at least a predetermined threshold value.

23. The method according to claim 22, which comprises providing the electrical energy that has not been called up by the given session completely or substantially completely to the other session.

24. The method according to claim 22, wherein the amount of electrical energy provided to the session is dependent on a type of session.

25. The method according to claim 22, which comprises providing at least the proportion of the electrical energy provided for the session that has not been called up to the other session for a predetermined time period.

26. The method according to claim 25, which comprises, once the predetermined time period has elapsed, determining an amount of electrical energy required by the session in which, if the electrical energy provided to the session is not called up, at least a proportion of the provided electrical energy is provided to the other session.

27. The method according to claim 22, which comprises setting a load distribution for at least one session by way of a stepwise allocation of the electrical energy.

28. The method according to claim 27, which comprises setting the load distribution for a plurality of sessions stepwise by virtue of the electrical energies for the plurality of sessions being set successively.

29. The method according to claim 27, wherein the stepwise allocation of the electrical energy comprises a plurality of steps, with a predetermined time period between the steps.

30. The method according to claim 27 which comprises setting the load distribution for a plurality of sessions by:

setting the sessions with a reduced electrical energy; and

setting the sessions with an increased electrical energy.

31. The method according to claim 30, which comprises setting the sessions with the increased electrical energy if electrical energy being drawn at that time is less than or equal to a setpoint value for the electrical energy.

32. The method according to claim 22, wherein the electrical energy is in the form of a charging current for an electrical consumer or a power consumption of the electrical consumer.

33. The method according to claim 32, wherein the electrical consumer is an electric vehicle.

34. The method according to claim 22, comprising:

providing the electrical energy to a plurality of electrical consumers;

with a processor, determining an amount of electrical energy required by one of the electrical consumers in a given session;

delivering electrical energy from a transformer and a first feeder of a distribution substation to the one electrical consumer via a charging station during the given session;

delivering a non-zero amount of electrical energy from the transformer of the distribution substation and a second feeder of the distribution substation to another one of the electrical consumers via another charging station during another session that occurs contemporaneously with the given session; and

if some of the electrical energy has not been called up and transferred from the charging station to the one electrical consumer during the given session and if a proportion of the electrical energy that has not been called up reaches or exceeds the predetermined threshold value, providing at least a portion of the electrical energy that has not been called up in the given session for increasing the non-zero amount of electrical energy available for delivery by the other charging station to the other electrical consumer.

35. An apparatus for providing electrical energy to an electrical consumer, the apparatus comprising:

a processing unit configured to cause at least a proportion of an electrical energy provided for a first running session which has not been called up to be provided to at least one other session running in parallel with the first running session, in which the proportion of the electrical energy, which has not been called up, is free or is not required, and in which at least the proportion of the electrical energy provided for the running session which has not been called up is provided to the at least one other session running in parallel if at least the proportion of the electrical energy provided for the session but not called up reaches at least a predetermined threshold value.

36. The apparatus according to claim 36, wherein said processing unit is configured to enable setting a load distribution for at least one session by a stepwise allocation of the electrical energy.

37. The apparatus according to claim 36, wherein said processing unit is disposed at least partially in said charging station.
