1. An electronic device, comprising:

  • a display;

    a color ambient light sensor; and

    control circuitry configured to adjust the display based on ambient light color and ambient light intensity information from the color ambient light sensor, wherein the color ambient light sensor comprises;

    a light detector integrated circuit having a plurality of photodetectors; and

    a color filter layer on the light detector integrated circuit, wherein the color filter layer has a plurality of thin-film interference color filters associated respectively with each of the plurality of photodetectors, each thin-film interference color filter having a pass band of a different color, wherein the color filter layer has a common dielectric stack that overlaps the plurality of photodetectors and has a plurality of color-filter-specific dielectric stacks each formed on the common dielectric stack, and wherein each of the thin-film interference color filters is formed from a respective one of the color-filter-specific dielectric stacks and a respective portion of the common dielectric stack that is overlapped by that color-filter-specific dielectric stack.
