Abstract
A sensor interface is configured to receive a sensor signal. A transmitter generates a transmit signal. A receiver receives the signal corresponding to the transmit signal. Further, a monitor interface is configured to communicate a waveform to the monitor so that measurements derived by the monitor from the waveform are generally equivalent to measurements derivable from the sensor signal.

2. A pulse oximetry system comprising:

a portable patient monitoring device comprising; a pulse oximetry sensor configured to be attached to a digit of a patient, the pulse oximetry sensor including at least; a light emitter configured to emit light into a tissue site of the digit of the patient; a light detector configured to output a sensor signal responsive to at least a portion of the emitted light after attenuation by tissue of the tissue site; and a cable extending from the pulse oximetry sensor and configured to electrically convey the first signal; a housing configured to be secured to a lower arm of the patient, wherein the cable is configured to interface with the housing on a side of the housing and extend from the side of the housing along a path perpendicular to the side of the housing; a strap mountable to the housing, the strap configured to secure the housing to the lower arm of the patient; one or more signal processors configured to; cause activation of the light emitter to emit light; receive the sensor signal from the light detector; determine, based at least in part on the sensor signal, measurements of physiological parameters including at least oxygen saturation and pulse rate; and generate a transmit signal including information indicative of the measurements of the physiological parameters; a signal transmitter configured to wirelessly transmit the transmit signal to a receiver computing system; and a battery configured to power the portable patient monitoring device including at least the one or more signal processors and the signal transmitter; and the receiver computing system configured to; receive, by a signal receiver of the receiver computing system, the transmit signal from the portable patient monitoring device; and cause display, on a display of the receiver computing system, of the measurements of the physiological parameters of the patient. - View Dependent Claims (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14)

15. A portable patient monitoring device comprising:

a pulse oximetry sensor configured to be attached to a digit of a patient, the pulse oximetry sensor including at least; a light emitter configured to emit light into a tissue site of the digit of the patient; a light detector configured to output a sensor signal responsive to at least a portion of the emitted light after attenuation by tissue of the tissue site; and a cable extending from the pulse oximetry sensor and configured to electrically convey the first signal; a housing configured to be secured to a lower arm of the patient, wherein the cable is configured to interface with the housing on a side of the housing and extend from the side of the housing along a path perpendicular to the side of the housing; a strap mountable to the housing, the strap configured to secure the housing to the lower arm of the patient; one or more signal processors configured to; cause activation of the light emitter to emit light; receive the sensor signal from the light detector; determine, based at least in part on the sensor signal, measurements of physiological parameters including at least oxygen saturation and pulse rate; and generate a transmit signal including information indicative of the measurements of the physiological parameters; a signal transmitter configured to wirelessly transmit the transmit signal to a receiver computing system configured to cause display of the measurements of the physiological parameters including at least oxygen saturation and pulse rate on a display of the receiver computing system; and a battery configured to power the portable patient monitoring device including at least the one or more signal processors and the signal transmitter. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29)
