Abstract
A modification of a sensor data management system to enable discrete sensor applications. A sensor data control system enables discrete sensor applications to control the configuration, collection, processing, and distribution of sensor data produced by selected sensors at various monitored locations. The sensor service offered by the sensor data control system can be leveraged by any sensor application having an interest in any part of one or more monitored locations.

21. A method, comprising:
-
transmitting, to one or more servers in a sensor data control system at a location remote from a monitored location, a first hypertext transfer protocol message via the Internet, the first hypertext transfer protocol message requesting a change in configuration of a first of a plurality of wireless nodes in a wireless sensor network installed at the monitored location, the wireless sensor network further including a gateway device that wirelessly communicates with the plurality of wireless nodes, the gateway device having a wide area network connection with the one or more servers in the sensor data control system, each of the plurality of wireless nodes supporting one or more sensors, the first hypertext transfer protocol message including a wireless node identifier and one or more configuration data values reflective of the change; transmitting, to the one or more servers in the sensor data control system, a second hypertext transfer protocol message via the Internet, the second hypertext transfer protocol message requesting data based on measurements by one or more sensors supported by the first of the plurality of wireless nodes at the monitored location; and receiving, from the one or more servers in the sensor data control system in response to the second hypertext transfer protocol message, data based on measurements by the one or more sensors supported by the first of the plurality of wireless nodes after having undergone the change in the configuration of the first of the plurality of wireless nodes. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30)

receiving, from a client device at a sensor data control system at a location remote from a monitored location, a first hypertext transfer protocol message via the Internet, the first hypertext transfer protocol message requesting a change in configuration of a first of a plurality of wireless nodes in a wireless sensor network installed at the monitored location, the wireless sensor network further including a gateway device that wirelessly communicates with the plurality of wireless nodes, the gateway device having a wide area network connection with one or more servers in the sensor data control system, each of the plurality of wireless nodes supporting one or more sensors, the first hypertext transfer protocol change message including a wireless node identifier and configuration information reflective of the change; transmitting, by the sensor data control system to the gateway device at the monitored location, a second hypertext transfer protocol message via the Internet that includes an instruction to effect the change in configuration of the first of the plurality of wireless nodes, the second hypertext transfer protocol message including one or more configuration data values based on the configuration information; receiving, by the sensor data control system from the gateway device, a third hypertext transfer protocol message that includes first information about an updated configuration of the first of the plurality of wireless nodes; updating, by the sensor data control system based on the received first information, a stored current status of the configuration of the first of the plurality of wireless nodes; and transmitting, from the sensor data control system to the client device, a fourth hypertext transfer protocol message that includes second information about the updated configuration of the first of the plurality of wireless nodes, the second information enabling the client device to confirm that the current status of the configuration of the first of the plurality of wireless nodes reflects the change requested in the first hypertext transfer protocol message. - View Dependent Claims (32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40)
