Abstract

A computer-implemented method for generating a report about a food product delivery process, according to one embodiment, includes receiving status information about a product container that contains a food product at different times as the product container travels from an origin to a destination. The status information includes sensor-derived conditions in the product container including at least temperature. The status information is stored. The performance of entities involved in delivery of the food product are analyzed relative to ideal handling or process conditions for the type of food product from the origin to the destination using the status information. A report of results of the analysis is output.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for generating a report about a food product delivery process, the method comprising:

receiving status information about a product container that contains a food product at different times as the product container travels from an origin to a destination,

wherein the status information includes sensor-derived conditions in the product container including at least temperature;

storing the status information;

analyzing the performance of entities involved in delivery of the food product compared to ideal handling or process conditions for the type of food product from the origin to the destination using the status information; and

generating a report of results of the analysis.

2. The method as recited in claim 1, comprising comparing the stored status information with stored status information corresponding to several other deliveries, wherein the report includes a result of the comparing.

3. The method as recited in claim 2, wherein the report indicates that a specific entity consistently mishandles food products.

4. The method as recited in claim 2, wherein the report indicates that a specific entity fails to load food items at a predefined temperature.

5. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein the report is a food safety report.

6. A computer program product, comprising:

executable computer code embodied on a computer readable storage medium, the computer code including;

computer code for receiving status information about a product container that contains a food product at different times as the product container travels from an origin to a destination,

wherein the status information includes sensor-derived conditions in the product container including at least temperature;

computer code for storing the status information;

computer code for analyzing the performance of entities involved in delivery of the food product compared to ideal handling or process conditions for the type of food product from the origin to the destination using the status information; and

computer code for generating a report of results of the analysis.

7. The computer program product as recited in claim 6, comprising computer code for comparing the stored status information with stored status information corresponding to several other deliveries, wherein the report includes a result of the comparing.

8. The computer program product as recited in claim 7, wherein the report indicates that a specific entity consistently mishandles food products.

9. The computer program product as recited in claim 7, wherein the report indicates that a specific entity fails to load food items at a predefined temperature.

10. The computer program product as recited in claim 6, wherein the report is a food safety report.

11. A system, comprising:

a processor and logic integrated with and/or executable by the processor, the logic being configured to cause the processor to;

receive, by the processor, status information about a product container that contains a food product at different times as the product container travels from an origin to a destination,

wherein the status information includes sensor-derived conditions in the product container including at least temperature;

store, by the processor, the status information;

analyze, by the processor, the performance of entities involved in delivery of the food product compared to ideal handling or process conditions for the type of food product from the origin to the destination using the status information; and

generate, by the processor, a report of results of the analysis.

12. The system as recited in claim 11, comprising comparing the stored status information with stored status information corresponding to several other deliveries, wherein the report includes a result of the comparing.

13. The system as recited in claim 12, wherein the report indicates that a specific entity consistently mishandles food products.

14. The system as recited in claim 12, wherein the report indicates that a specific entity fails to load food items at a predefined temperature.

15. The system as recited in claim 11, wherein the report is a food safety report.
