Abstract

In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The UE decodes, based on a first down-link reference signal received from a base station, a first PDCCH indicating a first PDSCH that contains a random access response. The UE decodes, based on the first down-link reference signal, the first PDSCH to obtain the random access message. The UE monitors a second PDCCH in a PDCCH common search space set based on the first down-link reference signal.

Claims

1. A method of wireless communication of a user equipment (UE), comprising:

decoding, based on a first down-link reference signal received from a base station, a first physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) indicating a first physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) that contains a random access response;

decoding, based on the first down-link reference signal, the first PDSCH to obtain the random access message; and

monitoring a second PDCCH in a PDCCH common search space set based on the first down-link reference signal.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

prior to monitoring the second PDCCH, determining that the first down-link reference signal and a second down-link reference signal currently for monitoring a second PDCCH are not quasi-colocated.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

prior to the decoding the first PDCCH, transmitting a preamble sequence to the base station when the UE is in a connected state, the preamble sequence indicating the first down-link reference signal.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the random access response contained in the first PDSCH responds to the preamble sequence transmitted by the UE.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining that a random access event has occurred in the connected state; and

selecting the first down-link reference signal transmitted from the base station and that is not quasi-colocated with a serving beam from the base station to the UE.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the PDCCH common search space set is associated with a control resource set (CORESET).

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the PDCCH common search space set is a Type 0 PDCCH common search space set, a Type 0A PDCCH common search space set, a Type 1 PDCCH common search space set, a Type 2 PDCCH common search space set, or a Type 3 PDCCH common search space set.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the PDCCH common search space set is associated with a control resource set (CORESET) indexed 0.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the first PDCCH is decoded in a first slot, wherein the second PDCCH is monitored in a second slot that is subsequent to the first slot.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the first down-link reference signal is synchronization signal block or channel state information reference signal.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the first PDCCH is scrambled with a random access radio network temporary identifier (RA-RNTI).

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the first PDCCH is scrambled with a temporary cell radio network temporary identifier (TC-RNTI) or a cell radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI), wherein the first PDSCH is in response to a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission scheduled by an up-link grant in the random access response or by a corresponding PUSCH retransmission.

13. An apparatus for wireless communication, the apparatus being a user equipment (UE), comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to;

decode, based on a first down-link reference signal received from a base station, a first physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) indicating a first physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) that contains a random access response;

decode, based on the first down-link reference signal, the first PDSCH to obtain the random access message; and

monitor a second PDCCH in a PDCCH common search space set based on the first down-link reference signal.

14. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

prior to monitoring the second PDCCH, determine that the first down-link reference signal and a second down-link reference signal currently for monitoring a second PDCCH are not quasi-colocated.

15. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

prior to the decoding the first PDCCH, transmit a preamble sequence to the base station when the UE is in a connected state, the preamble sequence indicating the first down-link reference signal.

16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the random access response contained in the first PDSCH responds to the preamble sequence transmitted by the UE.

17. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

determine that a random access event has occurred in the connected state; and

select the first down-link reference signal transmitted from the base station and that is not quasi-colocated with a serving beam from the base station to the UE.

18. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the PDCCH common search space set is associated with a control resource set (CORESET).

19. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the PDCCH common search space set is a Type 0 PDCCH common search space set, a Type 0A PDCCH common search space set, a Type 1 PDCCH common search space set, a Type 2 PDCCH common search space set, or a Type 3 PDCCH common search space set.

20. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the PDCCH common search space set is associated with a control resource set (CORESET) indexed 0.

21. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the first PDCCH is decoded in a first slot, wherein the second PDCCH is monitored in a second slot that is subsequent to the first slot.

22. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the first down-link reference signal is synchronization signal block or channel state information reference signal.

23. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the first PDCCH is scrambled with a random access radio network temporary identifier (RA-RNTI).

24. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the first PDCCH is scrambled with a temporary cell radio network temporary identifier (TC-RNTI) or a cell radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI), wherein the first PDSCH is in response to a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission scheduled by an up-link grant in the random access response or by a corresponding PUSCH retransmission.

25. A computer-readable medium storing computer executable code for wireless communication of a user equipment (UE), comprising code to:

decode, based on a first down-link reference signal received from a base station, a first physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) indicating a first physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) that contains a random access response;

decode, based on the first down-link reference signal, the first PDSCH to obtain the random access message; and

monitor a second PDCCH in a PDCCH common search space set based on the first down-link reference signal.
