Abstract

A latch module incorporated with an automatic opening function and a secure lock function includes a latch, a spring that applies a force to move the latch in a first direction, a drive to move the latch in a second direction, a cam that transmits power of the drive to the latch, and first and second switches that are turned on and off by the cam. The first and second switches are in a first mode in which the two switches are turned on and the latch is disposed at a manual lock position, a second mode in which the first switch is turned on and the second switch is turned off and the latch is disposed at an opening position, a third mode in which the first switch is turned off and the second switch is turned on and the latch is in a secure lock position.

Claims

1. A latch module for opening and closing a door of an appliance, comprising:

a latch;

a spring that applies an elastic force to the latch;

a drive that provides power to move the latch;

a cam that transmits the power of the drive to the latch, the cam including a switch pressing profile; and

a first switch and a second switch that are turned on or off by the switch pressing profile of the cam,

wherein the spring and the cam move the latch in a first basic position, a second basic position in which the latch is moved in a second direction from the first basic position, and a third basic position in which the latch is moved in a first direction from the first basic position, and

the switch pressing profile comprises a first pressing protrusion that presses the first switch or the second switch depending on a rotational position thereof, and a second pressing protrusion that presses the first switch or the second switch depending on a rotational position thereof.

2. The latch module of claim 1,

wherein the first switch and the second switch have a predetermined angle less than 180°

therebetween based on a center of rotation of the cam, and

wherein the first pressing protrusion and the second pressing protrusion have an angle therebetween corresponding to the predetermined angle between the first switch and the second switch.

3. The latch module of claim 1, wherein depending on a rotation position of the cam,

in a first mode of the switch pressing profile, the first switch and the second switch are both pressed,

in a second mode of the switch pressing profile, the first switch is pressed and the second switch is not pressed,

in a third mode of the switching profile, the first switch is not pressed and the second switch is pressed,

the latch is in the first basic position when the switch pressing profile is in the first mode,

the latch is in the second basic position when the switch pressing profile is in the second mode, and

the latch is in the third basic position when the switch pressing profile is in the third mode.

4. The latch module of claim 1, wherein

the first basic position is a manual lock position in which the door is capable of being opened and closed manually,

the second basic position is an opening position in which the door is released from the latch, and

the third basic position is a secure lock position in which the latch securely locks the door and the door is not capable of being opened manually.

5. The latch module of claim 1, wherein the first direction is opposite to the second direction.

6. The latch module of claim 1,

wherein the cam comprises a latch position adjusting profile that contacts the latch, and

the latch position adjusting profile comprises

a first radius that has a radius such that the latch is disposed in the first basic position when the first radius contacts a contact surface of the latch,

a second radius that has a radius such that the latch is disposed in the second basic position when the second radius contacts the contact surface of the latch, and

a third radius that has a radius such that the latch is disposed in the third basic position when the third radius contacts the contact surface of the latch.

7. The latch module of claim 6, wherein

a center of rotation of the cam is disposed in adjacent to the first direction than the contact surface of the latch that contacts the cam,

the radius of the second radius is greater than the radius of the first radius, and

the radius of the third radius is less than the radius of the first radius.

8. The latch module of claim 1, wherein the drive comprises a bi-directional rotational motor.

9. An appliance comprising:

a main body that has a cavity;

a door that opens and closes an open front of the cavity,

a latch module comprising;

a latch;

a drive that provides power to move the latch;

a cam that transmits the power of the drive to the latch; and

a first switch and a second switch that are turned on or off by a switch pressing profile of the cam; and

a controller configured to control the drive, the controller to rotate the switch pressing profile of the cam such that

in a first mode, the two switches are turned on,

in a second mode, the first switch is turned on and the second switch is turned off,

in a third mode, the first switch is turned off and the second switch is turned on.

The appliance of claim 9, wherein the controller is configured to rotate the cam to move the latch in a first basic position, a second basic position in which the latch is moved in a second direction from the first basic position, and a third basic position in which the latch is moved in a first direction from the first basic position, and

the latch is in the first basic position when the switch pressing profile is in the first mode,

the latch is in the second basic position when the switch pressing profile is in the second mode, and

the latch is in the third basic position when the switch pressing profile is in the third mode,

wherein the first basic position is a manual lock position in which the door is capable of being opened and closed manually,

the second basic position is an opening position in which the door is released, and

the third basic position is a secure lock position in which the door is securely locked and the door is not capable of being opened manually.

11. The appliance of claim 10, wherein the controller is configured to

control an operation of automatically opening the door in which i) the rotation of the cam is stopped after the cam is rotated in a first rotational direction from the first mode to the second mode of the switch pressing profile and ii) the rotation of the cam is stopped after the cam is rotated in a second rotational direction which is a direction opposite to the first rotational direction from the second mode to the first mode of the switch pressing profile.

12. The appliance of claim 10, wherein the controller is configured to

control an operation of securely locking the door in which i) the rotation of the cam is stopped after the cam is rotated in the second rotational direction from the first mode to the third mode of the switch pressing profile, and

control the operation of unlocking securely locked door in which i) the rotation of the cam is stopped after the cam is rotated in the first rotational direction from the third mode to the first mode of the switch pressing profile.

The appliance of claim 12, comprising a temperature sensor to sense a temperature of the cavity, wherein the controller is coupled to the temperature sensor and is configured to perform the operation of unlocking securely locked door when the controller determines that the temperature of the cavity is at a predetermined temperature.

The appliance of claim 10, comprising a fourth mode of the switch pressing profile in which the two switches are turned off depending on the rotational position of the cam, wherein the controller is configured to control an operation of an initial search drive step in which the cam is rotated in the second rotational direction when the switch pressing profile is in the fourth mode at the beginning of an operation of the appliance.

15. The appliance of claim 14, wherein the controller is configured to stop the drive of the cam after the cam is rotated to the first mode of the switch pressing profile during the initial search drive step.

16. The appliance of claim 14, wherein the controller is configured to

rotate the cam in the first rotational direction after the cam is rotated to the third mode of the switch pressing profile, and

stop the driving of the cam after the cam is rotated to the first mode of the switch pressing profile during the initial search drive step.

17. The appliance of claim 14, wherein the controller is configured to:

further rotate the cam in the second rotational direction after the cam is rotated to the second mode of the switch pressing profile, and

stop the drive of the cam when the cam is further rotated in the second rotational direction until the cam reaches to the first mode of the switching profile during the initial search drive step.

18. The home appliance of claim 9, comprising:

a hinge module that rotatably connects the door about the main body,

wherein the hinge module applies a force to the door in an opening direction of the door when the door is closed and opens the door to a first predetermined angle when the latch is in the second basic position.

19. The appliance of claim 18, wherein the hinge module comprises a damper to damp the opening of the door when the door opens to a second predetermined angle.

20. The appliance of claim 9,

wherein the cavity is a cooking chamber, and

the appliance is a cooking appliance.
