- sensing a parameter, via a sensor of a surgical instrument, associated with a drive system of the surgical instrument;
implementing, via a controller of the surgical instrument, an operating mode of an electric motor of the surgical instrument;
receiving, via the controller, an electrical signal; and
overriding, via the controller, the operating mode of the electric motor upon receiving the electrical signal; and
wherein the electrical signal comprises an activation of at least one user-actuated input device electrically coupled to the controller.
