Abstract

The disclosure extends to apparatuses, methods, and systems, for producing frozen confections and conditioning ice for use in frozen confections. A frozen confection machine includes a hopper portion for receiving ice into an interior, and a motor configured to rotate a drive shaft, a blade to condition the ice in the hopper during rotation of the motor. The frozen confection machine also includes a lid for selectively covering the interior of the hopper, a bias member for biasing the lid away from a closed position, and a switch for causing the motor to actuate in response to the lid being pressed to a closed position.

Claims

1. A frozen confection machine comprising:

an ice conditioning blade;

a spout connected to the frozen confection machine, wherein the spout is positioned to receive ice from the blade and dispense the ice through the spout at an angle that is downward from the blade.

2. The frozen confection machine of claim 1, wherein the spout guides conditioned ice out of the blade down to a bottom of the spout.

3. The frozen confection machine of claim 1, wherein the blade includes a slot.

4. The frozen confection machine of claim 3, wherein the blade includes a plurality of slots.

5. The frozen confection machine of claim 4, wherein the plurality of slots are disposed within an opening of the spout.

6. The frozen confection machine of claim 3, further comprising a hopper.

7. The frozen confection machine of claim 6, wherein at least an inside surface of the hopper is tapered from widest at a top of the hopper to narrowest at a bottom of the hopper.

8. The frozen confection machine of claim 6, further comprising a paddle wheel within the hopper.

9. The frozen confection machine of claim 7, wherein the paddle wheel includes a top surface.

10. The frozen confection machine of claim 9, wherein the top surface of the paddlewheel is positioned such that the top surface of the paddle wheel has a height that is the same as a bottommost portion of a slot in the blade.

11. The frozen confection machine of claim 1, further comprising a lid.

12. The frozen confection machine of claim 11, wherein the lid is biased in an open position.

13. The frozen confection machine of claim 12, wherein the frozen confection machine operates only when the lid is closed.

14. The frozen confection machine of claim 13, further comprising a switch which prevents operation of the frozen confection machine when the lid is in the open position.

15. The frozen confection machine of claim 1, further comprising a hopper, the hopper including an upper portion and a lower portion.

16. The frozen confection machine of claim 15, wherein a paddle wheel is positioned in the lower portion.

17. The frozen confection machine of claim 16, wherein the paddle wheel includes a paddle that extends up to a top of the lower portion of the hopper.

18. The frozen confection machine of claim 17, wherein the paddle extends to a point that is as high as at least a top of a slot in the blade.

19. The frozen confection machine of claim 18, wherein the paddle extends to a point that is higher than at least a top of one slot in the blade.

20. The frozen confection machine of claim 16, wherein the paddle extends to a point that is lower than a top of one slot in the blade.
