Abstract

A system for a touch screen interface that includes a coating including a plurality of a touch activated microchips; and a projector for projecting a light image onto the coating that is applied to a touch screen substrate. The system also includes an image calibrator that calibrates touch activated microchips in the coating to features of the light image projected onto the coating. The system further includes a receiver for receiving signal from the touch activated microchips when said feature of the light image is activated.

Claims

1. A method for forming a touch screen comprising:

applying a coating including a plurality of pressure sensitive microchips to a substrate for a touch screen;

projecting an image for a touch screen interface on the substrate for the touch screen;

calibrating the pressure sensitive microchips to features of the image for the touch screen interface; and

activating one of the features of the image by pressure activating the pressure sensitive microchips that are calibrated to that feature.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein applying the coating comprises spraying a liquid including the plurality of radio frequency sensitive microchips.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the coating is a wall covering having the touch sensitive microchips present therein.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the pressure sensitive microchips comprise a capacitor that, when pressure contacted, changes its capacitance in response to changes in the dielectric constant of the node dielectric of the capacitor.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the pressure sensitive microchips further comprise a light sensor.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein calibrating the pressure sensitive microchips to features of the image for the touch screen interface includes projecting a light image to the plurality of the pressure sensitive microchips in the coating, and the light sensor of the pressure sensitive microchips senses alignment objects in the light image for the calibrating the location of the pressure sensitive microchips to the features of the image for the touch screen interface.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the pressure sensitive microchips include a battery.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the pressure sensitive microchips are powered by an RF coil backing the coating.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the pressure activation of the pressure sensitive microchips includes a fingertip touch by a user.

10. A microchip comprising:

a capacitor sensor formed on a substrate, the capacitor sensor detecting changes in capacitance associated with a pressure activation;

a radio-frequency (RF) antenna formed on the substrate; and

a memory coupled to the RF antenna, the memory including identification information of the microchip configured to be transmitted via the RF antenna in response to the pressure activation of the capacitor sensor.

11. The microchip of claim 10, wherein the microchip is included in a coating.

12. The microchip of claim 11, wherein the coating includes a liquid configured to hold a plurality of the pressure sensitive microchip in suspension, and adhere to a surface when dry.

13. The microchip of claim 12, wherein the coating includes a paint.

14. The microchip of claim 11, wherein the coating includes a wall covering having a plurality of the microchip embedded thereon.

15. The microchip of claim 10, wherein the pressure sensitive microchip includes a light sensor.

16. The microchip of claim 15, wherein the microchip is configured to be calibrated by projecting a light image to the microchip, and the light sensor of the microchip senses alignment objects in the light image for calibrating the location of the microchip to a feature of a touch screen interface.

17. The microchip of claim 10, further comprising an RF coil configured to provide energizing power to the microchip.

18. A system comprising:

a plurality of pressure sensitive microchips embedded in a coating, the pressure sensitive microchips being configured to be calibrated to features of a touch screen interface projected onto the coating; and

a processor configured to activate one of the features of the touch screen interface when one of the pressure sensitive microchips corresponding to that feature is pressure activated.

The system of claim 18, wherein each of the microchips include a capacitor sensor, the capacitor sensor detecting changes in capacitance associated with a pressure activation, and configured to cause identification information of the microchip stored in a memory to be transmitted via an RF antenna in response to the pressure activation.

20. The system of claim 18, wherein each of the microchips include a light sensor configured to senses alignment objects in the light image for calibrating the location of the microchip to a feature of a touch screen interface.
