Abstract

Methods of treating developmental disorders and/or seizure disorders with flupirtine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are provided. The methods provide therapeutic compositions that may be used to improve one or more symptoms of the developmental disorder and/or seizure disorder.

Claims

1. A method of treating autism comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition comprising gaboxadol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the patient is administered about 0.05 mg to about 30 mg gaboxadol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the method provides improvement in one or more symptoms of autism in the patient.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the improvement is provided for more than 6 hours after administration.

5. The method of claim 3, wherein the improvement is provided for at least 8 hours after administration.

6. The method of claim 3, wherein the improvement is provided for at least 12 hours after administration.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the composition comprises about 1 mg to about 20 mg gaboxadol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
