Abstract
A fan suspender is disclosed herein. The fan suspender includes a wall-mount able to be affixed to a wall, a fan-mount able to be affixed to a fan, and a suspension-member which rigidly affixed the fan-mount to the wall-mount and enables the fan-mount to be safely suspended over an area. In this way, an electric fan may be effectively mounted to an interior or exterior wall without need of a ceiling to permanently mount the fan to. The suspension member has a curvature, separating a first straight end and a second straight end. The wall mount has a mounting plate with a wall side and an attachment side including a receptacle able to receive the suspension-member. The fan mount has a fan-mounting-plate with a fan-side and a suspension-side including a receptacle able to receive the opposite end of the suspension member.

17. A fan-suspender able to mount an overhead fan to a vertical wall, the fan-suspender comprising:
-
a suspension-member having a curvature, a first-straight-end on one side of the curvature, a second-straight-end on an opposite side of the curvature from the first-straight-end, a wall-mount having a wall-mounting-plate with a wall-side and an attachment-side, a first-receptacle on the attachment-side, the first-receptacle being tubular, the first-receptacle able to receive the first-straight-end of the suspension-member; and a fan-mount having a fan-mounting-plate with a fan-side and a suspension-side, and a second-receptacle attached to the suspension-side, the second-receptacle able to receive the second-straight-end of the suspension-member; wherein the curvature is an arc which separates the first-straight-end and the second-straight-end by ninety degrees of rotation, such that the first-straight-end is able to align with a vertical wall, and the second-straight-end is able to align with a ceiling; wherein the first-receptacle comprises a square tube, and the first-straight-end comprises a rod which is able to fit into the first-receptacle, the rod being able to rotate within the first-receptacle when not otherwise constrained; wherein the first-receptacle of the wall-mount further comprises a set-screw, the set-screw being threadable and advanceable into an interior of the first-receptacle, such that when the first-straight-end of the suspension-member is installed in the first-receptacle of the wall mount, advancing the set-screw into the interior of the first-receptacle causes the set-screw to imping against the first-straight-end of the suspension-member, thereby securing the first-straight-end of the suspension-member relative to the first-receptacle at a selected position; wherein the set-screw further includes a knob accessible from an exterior of the first-receptacle enabling the set-screw to be advanced or retarded by hand'"'"' wherein the first-receptacle further comprises a stop intersecting an interior of the first-receptacle in order to prevent the first-straight-end of the suspension-member from passing entirely through the first-receptacle; wherein the second-straight-end of the suspension-member comprises a round rod, enabling the second-straight-end of the suspension-member to rotate relative to the second-receptacle when the second-straight-end is installed within the second-receptacle; wherein the second-receptacle comprises a pair of clamps, each of the clamps comprising a pair of grips affixed to the fan-mounting-plate, each of the grips comprising a cantilever comprising a proximal-end, a distal-end, and a bend separating the proximal-end from the distal-end, the cantilever protruding from the fan-mounting-plate, the proximal-end being affixed to the fan-mounting-plate, and a deformable pad affixed to the distal-end of the cantilever, the deformable pad having a perforation through which the distal-end of the cantilever may pass. - View Dependent Claims (18)

19. A method of mounting an overhead fan to a vertical wall, the method comprising the steps of:
-
providing a fan-suspender comprising a suspension-member having a curvature, a first-straight-end on one side of the curvature, a second-straight-end on an opposite side of the curvature from the first-straight-end, a wall-mount having a wall-mounting-plate with a wall-side and an attachment-side, a first-receptacle on the attachment-side, the first-receptacle being tubular, the first-receptacle able to receive the first-straight-end of the suspension-member, and a fan-mount having a fan-mounting-plate with a fan-side and a suspension-side, and a second-receptacle attached to the suspension-side, the second-receptacle able to receive the second-straight-end of the suspension-member; affixing the wall-mounting-plate to the vertical wall with the wall-side adjacent to the vertical wall; affixing the fan-mounting-plate to the overhead fan with the fan-side adjacent to the overhead fan; sliding the first-straight-end of the suspension-member into the first-receptacle; sliding the second-straight-end of the suspension-member into the second-receptacle; rotating each of the first-straight-end relative to the first-receptacle and the second-straight-end relative to the second-receptacle until the overhead fan is in a desired position relative to the vertical wall.
