Abstract

The present invention provides a highly-convenient function relating to printing. For this purpose, in the case where execution of printing is instructed, a printing control apparatus receives first print data via predetermined printing software and generates second print data interpretable by a printing apparatus based on the first print data and print setting information.

Claims

1. A printing control apparatus comprising:

a registering unit which registers a printing apparatus;

a setting unit which sets print setting information, wherein the printing apparatus is registered also in predetermined printing software, and wherein the predetermined printing software is unable to set the print setting information;

a receiving unit which receives first print data via the predetermined printing software in a case where an instruction to execute printing is given with the printing apparatus registered by the registering unit and with the printing apparatus registered also in the predetermined printing software;

a generating unit which generates second print data interpretable by the printing apparatus, based on the first print data and the print setting information set by the setting unit; and

a transmitting unit which transmits the second print data to the printing apparatus.

2. The printing control apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the predetermined printing software is embedded in an operating system of the printing control apparatus without requiring a user to perform an installing operation.

3. The printing control apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a requesting unit which requests an operating system (OS) to create a print queue of the printing apparatus based on the registering of the printing apparatus by the registering unit.

4. The printing control apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a display control unit which executes processing of displaying a printing apparatus name including predetermined information as a name of the printing apparatus, on a screen of the predetermined printing software.

The printing control apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a change control unit which executes change processing such that the receiving unit does not receive the first print data in the case where the printing apparatus is changed from a state not supporting a predetermined print function provided by the predetermined printing software to a state capable of executing the predetermined print function, wherein the first print data generated by the predetermined printing software is transmitted to the printing apparatus in the case where an instruction is given to execute printing by using the printing apparatus which has been changed from the state not supporting the predetermined print function to the state capable of executing the predetermined print function.

6. The printing control apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the print setting information is print setting information relating to borderless printing.

7. A method of controlling a printing control apparatus, comprising:

registering a printing apparatus;

setting print setting information, wherein the printing apparatus is registered also in predetermined printing software, and wherein the predetermined printing software is unable to set the print setting information;

receiving first print data via the predetermined printing software in a case where an instruction to execute printing is given with the printing apparatus registered and with the printing apparatus registered also in the predetermined printing software;

generating second print data interpretable by the printing apparatus, based on the first print data and the print setting information; and

transmitting the second print data to the printing apparatus.

8. The controlling method according to claim 7, wherein the predetermined printing software is embedded in an operating system of the printing control apparatus without requiring a user to perform an installing operation.

9. The controlling method according to claim 7, comprising requesting an operating system (OS) to create a print queue of the printing apparatus based on the registering of the printing apparatus.

10. The controlling method according to claim 7, further comprising executing processing of displaying a printing apparatus name including predetermined information as a name of the printing apparatus, on a screen of the predetermined printing software.

11. The controlling method according to claim 7, further comprising executing change processing such that the first print data is not received in the case where the printing apparatus is changed from a state not supporting a predetermined print function provided by the predetermined printing software to a state capable of executing the predetermined print function, wherein

the first print data generated by the predetermined printing software is transmitted to the printing apparatus in the case where an instruction is given to execute printing by using the printing apparatus which has been changed from the state not supporting the predetermined print function to the state capable of executing the predetermined print function.

12. The controlling method according to claim 7, wherein the print setting information is print setting information relating to borderless printing.

13. A storage medium storing a program relating to a method of controlling a printing control apparatus, the controlling method including:

registering a printing apparatus;

setting print setting information, wherein the printing apparatus is registered also in predetermined printing software, and wherein the predetermined printing software is unable to set the print setting information;

receiving first print data via the predetermined printing software in a case where an instruction to execute printing is given with the printing apparatus registered and with the printing apparatus registered also in the predetermined printing software;

generating second print data interpretable by the printing apparatus, based on the first print data and the print setting information; and

transmitting the second print data to the printing apparatus.

14. The storage medium according to claim 13, wherein the predetermined printing software is embedded in an operating system of the printing control apparatus without requiring a user to perform an installing operation.

15. The storage medium according to claim 13, wherein the controlling method further includes requesting an operating system (OS) to create a print queue of the printing apparatus based on the registering of the printing apparatus.

16. The storage medium according to claim 13, wherein the controlling method further includes executing processing of displaying a printing apparatus name including predetermined information as a name of the printing apparatus, on a screen of the predetermined printing software.

17. The storage medium according to claim 13, wherein the controlling method further includes executing change processing such that the first print data is not received in the case where the printing apparatus is changed from a state not supporting a predetermined print function provided by the predetermined printing software to a state capable of executing the predetermined print function, wherein

the first print data generated by the predetermined printing software is transmitted to the printing apparatus in the case where an instruction is given to execute printing by using the printing apparatus which has changed from the state not supporting the predetermined print function to the state capable of executing the predetermined print function.

18. The storage medium according to claim 13, wherein the print setting information is print setting information relating to borderless printing.
