Abstract

A board connector includes terminal fittings (60) including board connecting portions (62), and a housing (10) made of synthetic resin containing a fibrous filler (80), disposed on a circuit board (90) and including a wall (18) rising in a vertical direction intersecting a surface of the circuit board (90). The wall (18) has a terminal mounting region (21) in which the terminal fittings (60) are mounted. The wall (18) includes elongated recesses (31) with a longitudinal direction aligned with the vertical direction and arranged side by side in a width direction in a distant region (22) located on a side of the terminal mounting region (21) distant from the circuit board (90).

Claims

1. A board connector, comprising:

terminal fittings (60) including board connecting portions (62) to be connected to a circuit board (90); and

a housing (10) made of synthetic resin containing a fibrous filler (80), disposed on the circuit board (90) and including a wall (18) rising in a direction intersecting the surface of the circuit board (90) and provided with a terminal mounting region (21), the terminal fittings (60) being mounted in the terminal mounting region (21);

the wall (18) being provided with recesses (31) having an elongated shape defining a longitudinal direction aligned with the direction intersecting a surface of the circuit board (90) and arranged side by side in a transverse direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction at least in a distant region (22) located on a side of the terminal mounting region (21) distant from the circuit board (90).

The board connector of claim 1, wherein the housing (10) includes a plate-like side wall (16) projecting in a direction intersecting a wall surface of the wall (18) and configured to cover exposed parts of the terminal fittings (60) pulled out from the terminal mounting region (21), and a resin pouring portion (17) left by removing a resin gate (100) is provided in a wall surface of the side wall (16).

3. The board connector of claim 2, wherein:

the terminal mounting region (21) includes terminal mounting holes (19) in the longitudinal direction and the transverse direction of the recesses (31), a plurality of the terminal mounting holes (19) being arranged in a transverse direction of the recesses (31) being divided by mounting walls (24);

the mounting walls (24) being arranged in stages in the longitudinal direction of the recesses (31), thicker than intermediate walls (25) located between the mounting walls (24) in the respective stages in the longitudinal direction and include parts projecting toward openings of the recesses (31); and

the mounting wall (24) arranged in the distant region (22) includes a flat continuous surface in which the recesses (31) are defined and both the plurality of terminal mounting holes (19) and the plurality of recesses (31) are open.

A method for manufacturing the housing of the board connector of claim 2, wherein the resin gate (100) is arranged at a position corresponding to the resin pouring portion (17), molten resin is injected into a molding space of a mold from the resin gate (100), and the housing (10) is molded to include a filling path in which the molten resin successively flows in spaces of the molding space respectively corresponding to the side wall (16), the distant region (22), the terminal mounting region (21) and the near region (23).
