Abstract
A transmission device includes a first mapper, a second mapper, a converter, a superposer, and a transmitter. The first mapper is configured to map a first bit stream of a first data series to generate a first modulated symbol stream. The second mapper is configured to map a second bit stream of a second data series to generate a second modulated symbol stream. The first modulated symbol stream and the second modulated symbol stream are representable on a complex plane extending in a first direction and a second direction. The converter is configured to convert the second modulated symbol stream in accordance with the first modulated symbol stream only in the first direction on the complex plane. The superposer is configured to superpose the first modulated symbol stream and the second modulated symbol stream converted by the converter, at an amplitude ratio, to generate a multiplexed signal.

27. A transmission device comprising:

a signal processing circuit configured to generate a multiplexed signal on which a first signal and a second signal are superposed at an amplitude ratio, the first signal having a first in-phase component and a first orthogonal component, the second signal having a second in-phase component and a second orthogonal component, the second signal having been subjected to QPSK modulation; and a transmitter configured to transmit the multiplexed signal from a transmission antenna, wherein the signal processing circuit is further configured to convert the second signal to generate the multiplexed signal such that; (i) a polarity of the second in-phase component is inverted if a polarity of the first in-phase component is positive; and (ii) a polarity of the second orthogonal component is inverted if a polarity of the first orthogonal component is positive. - View Dependent Claims (28)

29. A reception device comprising:

a receiver configured to receive, via a reception antenna, a multiplexed signal on which a first signal and a second signal are superposed at an amplitude ratio, the first signal having a first in-phase component and a first orthogonal component, the second signal having a second in-phase component and a second orthogonal component, the second signal having been subjected to QPSK modulation, the second signal having been converted to generate the multiplexed signal such that; (i) a polarity of the second in-phase component is inverted if a polarity of the first in-phase component is positive; and (ii) a polarity of the second orthogonal component is inverted if a polarity of the first orthogonal component is positive; and a signal processing circuit configured to derive at least one of the first signal or the second signal from the multiplexed signal. - View Dependent Claims (30)

31. A transmission method, performed by a transmission device, comprising:

superposing a first signal and a second signal at an amplitude ratio to generate a multiplexed signal, the first signal having a first in-phase component and a first orthogonal component, the second signal having a second in-phase component and a second orthogonal component, the second signal having been subjected to QPSK modulation; and transmitting the multiplexed signal from a transmission antenna, wherein the second signal is converted to generate the multiplexed signal such that; (i) a polarity of the second in-phase component is inverted if a polarity of the first in-phase component is positive; and (ii) a polarity of the second orthogonal component is inverted if a polarity of the first orthogonal component is positive.

32. A reception method, performed by a reception device, comprising:

receiving, via a reception antenna, a multiplexed signal on which a first signal and a second signal are superposed at an amplitude ratio, the first signal having a first in-phase component and a first orthogonal component, the second signal having a second in-phase component and a second orthogonal component, the second signal having been subjected to QPSK modulation, the second signal having been converted to generate the multiplexed signal such that; (i) a polarity of the second in-phase component is inverted if a polarity of the first in-phase component is positive; and (ii) a polarity of the second orthogonal component is inverted if a polarity of the first orthogonal component is positive; and deriving at least one of the first signal or the second signal from the multiplexed signal.
