A CIRCUIT FOR MODULATING AN ELECTRIC SIGNAL, THE CIRCUIT HAVING A SIGNAL INPUT AND A SIGNAL OUTPUT, A SEMICONDUCTOR OXIDE THERMISTOR CONNECTED IN THE CIRCUIT SO AT LEAST A PORTION OF A SIGNAL APPLIED TO THE INPUT PASSES THROUGH THE THERMISTOR, MEANS FOR INREASING AND DECREASING THE TEMPERATURE OF THE THERMISTOR INDEPENDENTLY OF THE SIGNAL AND AT A RATE GREATER THAN THE RATE OF FREQUENCY OF THE SIGNAL TO MODULATE THE AMOUNT OF SIGNAL PASSING THROUGH THE THERMISTOR, MEANS FOR AMPLIFYING THE MODULATED SIGNAL, AND MEANS FOR DEMODULATING THE AMPLIFIED SIGNAL.
