LAMP SHADE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SAME
First Claim
1. A lamp shade comprising at least one spiral strip cut out of a plane elastic sheet and running in a path forming a hybrid spiral and helix, and a plurality of elongated flexible supporting elements extending transversely of the turns of said strip and being distributed along the circumference thereof, said supporting elements being attached to said turns at each point of intersection therebetween.

Abstract
A lamp shade is provided which consists of a spiral strip cut out of a plane sheet and is maintained in a hybrid spiral and helical path by means of strips or filaments extending transversely of the turns of the spiral strip and attached thereto in the points of intersection. To provide such a lamp shade a method is provided, according to which a spiral strip is first cut out of a plane sheet and is then pulled out perpendicularly to its plane by attaching supporting strips or filaments to the spiral strip in predetermined attachment areas thereof.

2. A lamp shade as in claim 1, in which the points of said strip, at which said supporting elements are attached, are located as referred to the plane state of the strip, in different angular positions from turn to turn with respect to the axis of the spiral.
-
3. A lamp shade as in claim 1, in which said supporting elements are flat and are provided with incisions from at least one edge, the strip being provided along one edge with slits each opened to the edge by a cut, the incision sections of said supporting elements being engaged in said slits of said strip.
-
4. A method of making a lamp shade comprising the steps of cutting a spiral strip out of a plane sheet, forming distinct attachment areas in spaced points along the length of said strip, providing a system of elongated elastic supporting elements, pulling out said spiral strip perpendicularly to its plane, and attaching said supporting elements to said strip in the attachment areas thereof in cyclical succession.
