1. In patty printing apparatus, a patty printer, means for forcing material to be printed into said printer, means for ejecting patties from said printer, means for conveying trays to said printer in timed relationship for reception of the patties ejected from said printer, means for applying thermoplastic cover means to said trays, heated die means for heat sealing said cover means to said trays, a high pressure press carrying said die means, means for causing said press to engage said die means with said cover means and said trays a plurality of times, each time for a fraction of a second and each time at a pressure in the order of one ton per tray, cutting die means carried by said press posteriorly of said heated die means for severing the trays and cover means into individual services, means posteriorly of said cutting die means for relatively raising alternate ones of said individual services and for moving adjacent services into overlapping relationship with one another, means for moving packing cartons transversely of the overlapped trays, and means for pushing rows of overlapped trays into the cartons.
