1. In combination:
- means for sequentially sampling input signals from each of a plurality of channels;
means for storing digital data signals derived from said signal samples in a storing sequence and for reading said data from said storing means in a reading sequence;
said storing sequence being different from said reading sequence; and
said data being read during time periods between the time period during which each sample is taken from each of said channels.

Abstract
A time compression system used for spectrum analysis of multichannel digital systems in which there are X identical input channels and Y identical filters. Each input is sampled in parallel and then quantized with an analog-to-digital converter. The inputs are then stored channel by channel in a random access memory. Readout is interleaved simultaneously with the writing and each channel is readout serially. The stored digital signals are converted back to serial analog signals and fed to a single bank of filters for spectrum analysis.
