1. A landfill bucket for mounting on lift arms and tilt linkages of a loader comprising:
- a pair of spaced hinge plates having means for being pivotally connected to loader lift arms and tilt linkages;
a floor member which has a substantially planar area including a length in the direction of forward movement of the loader and extending across the width of the bucket;
means connecting a rearward portion of said floor member to said hinge plates;
a substantially flat plate having an upper surface in substantial alignment with the upper surface of said floor member and extending across the width of said bucket, said flat plate having a forward cutting edge and a rear surface held in abutting relationship with a forward edge of said floor member;
a bucket wrapper member having a generally cylindrical surface with a horizontal axis, the lower end of said curved surface intersecting with said floor member at an angle along a line which is spaced from both said rearward portion and said forward edge of the floor member and being welded to the floor member along said line; and
a pair of substantially identical side plates on opposite sides of said bucket, said plates having their upper portions secured to an upper portion of said bucket and their lower edges secured along opposite sides of said floor member and said flat plate, said side plates having a lower portion leading edge that extends upwardly at an oblique angle relative to the upper surface of said flat plate and an upper portion leading edge that extends substantially perpendicular to the upper surface of said flat plate to thereby form a recess at a junction between said lower and upper portions, the upper surface of said flat plate extending in a forward direction beyond the leading edges of the lower portions of said side plates.

Abstract
A landfill bucket for use with a conventional loader or other type tractor vehicle wherein the bucket is so constructed as to also be usable for dozing, spreading and carrying. It has particular utility in connection with solid waste disposal in that it can serve all the functions required for digging and filling trenches, and in addition can segregate large items out of piles of refuse for special handling.

1. A landfill bucket for mounting on lift arms and tilt linkages of a loader comprising:
- a pair of spaced hinge plates having means for being pivotally connected to loader lift arms and tilt linkages;
a floor member which has a substantially planar area including a length in the direction of forward movement of the loader and extending across the width of the bucket;
means connecting a rearward portion of said floor member to said hinge plates;
a substantially flat plate having an upper surface in substantial alignment with the upper surface of said floor member and extending across the width of said bucket, said flat plate having a forward cutting edge and a rear surface held in abutting relationship with a forward edge of said floor member;
a bucket wrapper member having a generally cylindrical surface with a horizontal axis, the lower end of said curved surface intersecting with said floor member at an angle along a line which is spaced from both said rearward portion and said forward edge of the floor member and being welded to the floor member along said line; and
a pair of substantially identical side plates on opposite sides of said bucket, said plates having their upper portions secured to an upper portion of said bucket and their lower edges secured along opposite sides of said floor member and said flat plate, said side plates having a lower portion leading edge that extends upwardly at an oblique angle relative to the upper surface of said flat plate and an upper portion leading edge that extends substantially perpendicular to the upper surface of said flat plate to thereby form a recess at a junction between said lower and upper portions, the upper surface of said flat plate extending in a forward direction beyond the leading edges of the lower portions of said side plates.

2. The bucket as claimed in claim 1 wherein the horizontal axis is above and in front of the forward edge of the floor member;

3. A landfill bucket for mounting on lift arms and tilt linkages of a loader comprising:
- a pair of spaced hinge plates having means for being pivotally connected to loader lift arms and tilt linkages;
a floor member which has a substantially planar area including a length in the direction of forward movement of the loader and extending across the width of the bucket;
means connecting a rearward portion of said floor member to said hinge plates;
a substantially flat plate having an upper surface in substantial alignment with the upper surface of said floor member and extending across the width of said bucket, said flat plate having a forward cutting edge and a rear surface held in abutting relationship with a forward edge of said floor member;
a bucket wrapper member having a generally curved surface, the lower end of said curved surface intersecting with said floor member at an angle along a line which is spaced from both said rearward portion and said forward edge of the floor member, the upper end of said wrapper member terminating approximately vertically above said intersecting line;
a substantially planar member connected to and extending from the upper end of said bucket wrapper member and terminating at a point which is perpendicular to and passes through said flat plate, said planar member having perforations of a size and in a pattern sufficient to allow operator visibility through said planar member; and
a pair of substantially identical side plates on opposite sides of said bucket, said plates having their upper portions secured to an upper portion of said bucket and their lower edges secured along opposite sides of said floor member and said flat plate, said side plates having a lower portion leading edge that extends upwardly at an oblique angle relative to the upper surface of said flat plate and an upper portion leading edge that extends substantially perpendicular to the upper surface of said flat plate to thereby form a recess at the junction between said lower and upper portions.

a bucket wrapper member having a generally curved surface, the lower end of said curved surface intersecting with said floor member at an angle along a line which is spaced both from said raarward portion and said forward edge of the floor member;
a pair of substantially identical side plates on opposite sides of said bucket, said plates having their upper portions secured to an upper portion of said bucket and their lower edges secured along opposite sides of said floor member and said flat plate, said side plates having a lower portion leading edge that extends upwardly at an oblique angle relative to the upper surface of said flat plate and an upper portion leading edge that extends substantially perpendicular to the upper surface of said flat plate to thereby form a recess at the junction between said lower and upper portions; and
said hinge plates each having an upper and lower opening for receiving hinge pins, the hinge pin for the lower opening being on the rear side of said bucket wrapper surface and behInd the rear portion of said floor member, and the hinge pin for the upper portion being forward of and below the upper end of said bucket wrapper curved surface.

means connecting a rearward portion of said floor member to said hinge plates;
a substantially flat plate having an upper surface in substantial alignment with the upper surface of said floor member and extending across the width of said bucket, said flat plate having a forward cutting edge and a rear surface held in abutting relationship with a forward edge of said floor member;
a bucket wrapper member having a generally curved surface, the lower end of said curved surface intersecting with said floor member at an angle along a line which is spaced from both said rearward portion and said forward edge of the floor member;
a pair of substantially identical side plates on opposite sides of said bucket, said plates having their upper portions secured to an upper portion of said bucket and their lower edges secured along opposite sides of said floor member and said flat plate, said side plates having a lower portion leading edge that extends upwardly at an oblique angle relative to the upper surface of said flat plate and upper portion leading edge that extends substantially perpendicular to the upper surface of said flat plate to thereby form a recess at the junction between said lower and upper portions; and
a pair of reinforcing bars on each side plate, one of said bars extending from the rear half of said flat plate upwardly at said oblique angle to a rear edge portion of said side plate, and the other bar downwardly from an upper portion of said side plate in a direction substantially perpendicular to said flat plate upper surface and intersecting said one bar.

6. A landfill bucket for mounting on lift arms and tilt linkages of a loader comprising:
- a pair of spaced hinge plates having means for being pivotally connected to loader lift arms and tilt linkages;
a floor member which has a substantially planar area including a length in the direction of forward movement of the loader and extending across the width of the bucket;
means connecting a rearward portion of said floor member to said hinge plates;
a substantially flat plate having an upper surface in substantial alignment with the upper surface of said floor member and extending across the width of said bucket, said flat plate having a forward cutting edge and a rear surface held in abutting relationship with a forward edge of said floor member;
a bucket wrapper member having a generally curved surface, the lower end of said curved surface intersecting with said floor member at an angle along a line which is spaced from both said rearward portion and said forward edge of the floor member;
a pair of substantially identical side plates on opposite sides of said bucket, said plates having their upper portions secured to an upper portion of said bucket and their lower edges secured along opposite sides of said floor member and said flat plate, said side plates having a lower portion leading edge that extends upwardly at an oblique angle relative to the upper surface of said flat plate and an upper portion leading edge that extends substantially perpendicular to the upper surface of said flat plate to thereby form a recess at the junction between said lower and upper portions; and
means for securing said flat plate to said side plates comprising gusset members welded to said flat plate, said floor member, and said side plate along each side of said bucket; and
a pair of spaced plates which extend in a substantially vertical plaNe, said plates being welded to said flat plate, asid floor member, and the inside surface of said bucket wrapper member.

- a pair of spaced hinge plates having means for being pivotally connected to loader lift arms and tilt linkages;
a floor member having a substantially planar area including a length in the direction of forward movement of the loader and extending across the width of the bucket;
a substantially flat plate having an upper surface in substantial alignment with the upper surface on said floor member and extending across the width of said bucket, said flat plate having a forward cutting edge and a rear surface held in abutting relationship with a forward edge of said floor member;
a bucket wrapper member having a generally curved surface, the lower end of said curved surface intersecting with said floor member;
means securing the wrapper and floor members to said hinge plates;
a pair of substantially identical side plates on opposite sides of said bucket, said plates having their upper portions secured to an upper portion of said bucket and their lower edges secured along opposite sides of said floor member and said flat plate, said side plates having a lower portion leading edge that extends upwardly at an oblique angle relative to the upper surface of said flat plate and an upper portion leading edge that extends substantially perpendicular to the upper surface of said flat plate to thereby form a recess at the junction between said lower and upper portions; and
a pair of reinforcing bars on each side plate, one of said bars extending from the rear half of said flat plate upwardly at said oblique angle to a rear edge portion of said side plate, and the other bar extending downwardly from an upper portion of said side plate in a direction substantially perpendicular to said flat plate upper surface and intersecting said first bar at said recess.

8. The bucket as claimed in claim 7 wherein the curved surface is cylindrical and has a horizontal axis;

the lower end of said curved surface intersects with said floor member along a line which is spaced centrally between the rearward portion and the forward edge of the floor member and the distance between the forward cutting edge of the flat plate and said intersecitng line is substantially equal to the radius of the bucket wrapper cylindrical surface.

The bucket as claimed in claim 8 wherein the upper end of said bucket wrapper member terminates approximately vertically above said intersecting line and said bucket further includes a substantially planar member connected to and extending from the upper end of said bucket wrapper member and terminating at a plane which is perpendicular to and passes through said flat plate, said planar member having perforations of a size and in a pattern sufficient to allow operator visibility through said planar member.

The bucket as defined in claim 9 wherein the hinge plates each have an upper and lower opening for receiving hinge pins, the hinge pin for the lower opening being on the rear side of said bucket wrapper surface and behind the rear portion of said floor member, and the hinge pin for the upper portion being forward of and below the upper end of said bucket wrapper curved surface.

The bucket as defined in claim 10 further having means for securing said flat plate to said side plates comprising gusset members welded to said flat plate, said floor member, and said side plate along each side of said bucket, and a pair of spaced plates which extend in a substantially vertical plane, said plates being welded to said flat plate, said floor member, and the inside surface of said bucket wrapper member.

The bucket as defined in claim 7 wherein the hinge plates each have an upper and lower opening for receiving hinge pins, the hinge pins for the lower opening being on the rear side of said bucket wrapper surface and behind the rear portion of said floor member, and the hinge pin for the upper portion being forward of and below the upper end of said bucket wrapper curved surface.

14. A landfill bucket for mounting on lift arms and tilt linkage of a loader comprising:
- a floor member having a substantially flat upper surface area including a length in the direction of forward movement of the loader and extending across the width of the bucket;
a cutting blade member mounted in front of said floor member;
a bucket wrapper member having a generally curved surface, the lower end of said curved surface intersecting said floor member at an abrupt angle along a line extending across the width of said floor member and the upper end of said curved surface terminates approximately vertically above said intersecting line on said floor member;
a pair of spaced hinge plate meams adapted for pivotal connection to the loader lift arms and tilt linkages and secured to said wrapper and floor members;
a perforated substantially planar member connected to and extending upwardly at an angle of approximately 45* relative to said flat floor surface from the upper end of said wrapper member curved surface, and terminating at a plane which is perpendicular to said flat floor surface and passes through said cutting blade member, said planar member having performations of a size and pattern sufficient to allow operator visibility through said planar member; and
a pair of substantially identical side plates on opposite sides of said bucket, said plates having their uppermost portions secured to said perforated planar member, their rear edge portions secured to said wrapper member, and their lower edge portions secured to said floor member and said cutting blade, said side plates having a lower portion leading edge that extends upwardly at an oblique angle relative to said flat floor surface and an upper portion leading edge that extends substantially perpendicular to said flat floor member to thereby form a recess at the junction between said lower and upper portions.

- a pair of spaced hinge plates having means for being pivotally connected to loader lift arms and tilt linkages;
a bucket member including a lower floor portion having a substantially planar area including a length in the direction of forward movement of the loader and extending across the width of the bucket, a generally curved wrapper portion extending upwardly from the floor portion, and a substantially planar member connected to and extending from the upper end of the wrapper portion, the upper end of said planar member terminating at a plane which is perpendicular to and just forwardly of the floor portion planar area, said planar member having perforations of a size and in a pattern sufficient to allow operator visibility through the planar member;
means securing the bucket member to said hinge plates;
a pair of substantially identical side plates on opposite sides of said bucket, said plates having their upper portions secured to an upper portion of said bucket and their lower edges secured along opposite sides of said planar floor portion, said side plates having a lower portion leading edge that extends upwardly at an oblique angle relative to the upper surface of said floor portion planar area and an upper portion leading edge that extends sUbstantially perpendicular to said floor portion planar area to thereby form a recess at the junction between said lower and upper portions; and
a pair of reinforcing bars on each side plate, one of said bars extending from the forward edge of said floor portion upwardly at said oblique angle toward a rear edge portion of said side plate, and the other bar extending downwardly from an upper portion of said side plate in a direction substantially perpendicular to said floor portion planar area and intersecting said first bar at said recess.

The bucket as defined in claim 15 further having a substantially flat plate having an upper surface in substantial alignment with the upper surface of said floor portion planar area and extending across the width of said bucket, said flat plate having a forward cutting edge and a rear surface held in abutting relationship with a forward edge of said floor portion;
- and means for securing said flat plate to said side plates comprising gusset members welded to said flat plate, said floor member and said side plate along each side of each bucket; and
a pair of spaced plates which extend in a substantially vertical plane, said plates being welded to said flat plate, said floor member, and the inside surface of said bucket wrapper member.
