Refiner disc
First Claim
1. A feed end refining disc for use in a disc refiner comprising a plate-like body having an infeed face, an operating face, and at least one feed passage having an exit end at said operating face and an entrance end opening from said infeed face, characterized by means providing an irregular surface contour on said infeed face at least a portion of which is projected from said infeed face and arranged thereon adjacent and generally clear of said entrance end of said feed passage to inhibit material fed to said infeed face for movement through said feed passage from building up on said infeed face.

Abstract
A feed end disc for a double rotating disc refiner characterized by means which dictate that the materials fed to the refiner will pass to the eye of the refiner in a free moving flow, without building on the disc spokes and without by-pass of the refiner discs. The said means are constituted by lug-like devices which project from the infeed face of the disc to the refiner inlet. As the feed end disc is rotated, each lug-like device employed produces a turbulence and a directional influence on the flow of the material to be refined which draws the material to and through the disc feed passages to the eye of the refiner.
