1. A method of handling different sets of cores and providing windings thereon, said method including the steps of:

  • moving a first set of cores to a core loading station;

    transferring the cores of the first set to a core set transporter;

    transporting the first set of cores to a winding station;

    substantially simultaneously placing windings on each core in the first set of cores at the winding station;

    establishing lead wires of a predetermined length for at least one winding coil of each core in the first set of cores at the winding station and, at that time, establishing at least one lead wire of a predeterminable length for each core of another set of cores;

    transporting the wound first set of cores to the core loading station; and

    removing the wound first set of cores from the core loading station.
