Abstract

This invention involves the use of retinal in topical therapy of acne vulgaris.

Claims

1. A method of treating acne vulgaris in a human having skin affected thereby, which method consists of:

administering topically to the affected skin a therapeutically effective amount of retinal on a daily basis to promote improvement of the skin without causing worsening of the acne, irritation to the skin, and peeling of the skin.

2. A method as in claim 1, wherein the retinal is administered in an amount of from about 0.05 to about 1% by weight in a pharmacologically acceptable topical vehicle.

3. A method as in claim 2, wherein the retinal is in an amount of from about 0.1 to 0.2% by weight.
