Improved oxidative dehydrogenation catalysts are prepared by modifying a zinc ferrite oxidative dehydrogenation catalyst with manganese oxide. The resulting catalyst compositions exhibit higher conversions and yields.

C. for 90 minutes in air, in the presence of manganese oxide or a compound which will convert to manganese oxide under the reaction conditions for forming the zinc ferrite.
