1. In a gas turbine electric power plant having a gas turbine and a control system therefor, a protective alarm monitoring system for said turbine comprising:
- a. sensing means for sensing the status of a given parameter at a predetermined portion of said turbine and for generating a signal representative thereof;
b. first means, responsive to said sensing means, for determining when said parameter signal represents a reasonable alarm condition which reflects a need for corrective scheduled control of said turbine upon such determination;
c. second means, responsive to said sensing means, for determining when said reasonable alarm condition parameter signal represents a non-parameter reasonable alarm condition which reflects protective system apparatus malfunction not requiring any change in normal turbine operation; and
d. initiating means, responsively coupled to said first and second means for determining and to said turbine control system, for initiating corrective scheduled control of said turbine only when said parameter signal represents a reasonable alarm parameter signal condition.

Abstract
A gas turbine power plant is provided with an industrial gas turbine which drives a generator coupled to a power system through a breaker. The turbine-generator plant is operated by a hybrid control system having digital function capability during sequenced startup, synchronizing, load buildup and steady state load, and shutdown operations. The control system also contains monitoring and protective subsystems which function through all stages of operation, with redundancy and permissive features which maximize turbine availability.

13. In apparatus having a control system for operating said apparatus, said apparatus having at least one portion thereof subject to overheating when being operated, a protective alarm system comprising:
-
a. sensing means for sensing the temperature at said portion and for generating a signal representative thereof; b. first means for determining when the value of said temperature signal represents a reasonable representation of an overheated condition at said portion reflecting a need for corrective scheduled control of said apparatus; c. second means for determining when the value of said temperature signal represents a non-reasonable representation of the temperature overheated condition at said portion reflecting a protective system malfunction not requiring corrective scheduled control of said apparatus; and d. initiating means, responsively coupled to said first and second means for determining and to said apparatus control system, for initiating corrective scheduled control of said apparatus only when the value of said temperature signal represents a reasonable overheated condition. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15)
