A composition comprising a polyether consisting essentially of chemically combined units of the formula --RIII --O--, having a molecular weight of between 500 to 15,000, and terminal silylether groups of the formula ##EQU19## wherein RI is an alkyl or aryl radical having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, --RII --, is a member selected from the group consisting of --CH2 --, ##SPC5## ##SPC6##and --R'"'"'--OCH2 --, wherein R'"'"' is a divalent hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 12 carbon atoms and selected from the group consisting of alkylene radicals, cycloalkylene radicals, arylene radicals and aralkylene radicals;
- --R-- is a divalent alkylene radical selected from the group consisting of --CH2 CH2 --, ##EQU20## and --CH2 CH2 CH2 CH2 --, X is a member selected from the class consisting of halogen radicals, alkoxy radicals, acyloxy radicals, ketoximato radicals, amino radicals, amide radicals and mercaptide radicals;
a is a whole number equal to 0, 1 or 2 and b is a whole number equal to 0 to 1.
