1. A gas combustion device with a safety device characterized by the provision of(a) a combustible gas sensor comprising a calcined body made of a solid ion conductive, electrolyte material, and porous electrodes attached to both surfaces of said calcined body,(b) a pilot burner sensor including a thermocouple which creates an electromotive force (e.m.f.) in response to the detection of heat of combustion flames of said gas combustion device, and(c) a safety valve connected in a gas supply line for said gas combustion device and operable in response to both the outputs from said combustible gas sensor and said pilot burner sensor.
