1. A method of forming a container, said method including the steps of:
- a. feeding a blank to forming means having a forming die with a through bore with a plurality of different sized forming areas;
b. forming a first fold line on said blank by passing same through one of the forming areas;
c. forming a second fold line on said blank by passing same through another one of the forming areas whereby said blank is formed into a bottom member having a bottom panel portion and a depending skirt portion with said first and second fold lines therebetween with said fold lines being generally concentric;
d. reducing the diameter of the first fold line to a diameter less than the formed diameter of the first fold line;
e. moving the skirt portion into engagement with a sidewall and allowing the diameter of the first fold line to expand from the reduced size; and
f. securing said bottom member skirt portion to an interior surface of said sidewall by adhesion to form a container.

Abstract
A container having a sidewall secured to a bottom member which has a bottom panel with a plurality of spaced apart fold lines between same and a depending skirt. The apparatus includes an arrangement for forming the bottom member from a blank with the apparatus including a forming die through which the blank is passed by use of a plunger arrangement with the die having a plurality of different size forming areas which cooperate with the plunger arrangement to form the fold lines and skirt. Means feed the blanks to the die and plunger arrangement for forming after which the bottom member is secured to the sidewall to form a container.

5. A method of forming a container, said method including the steps of:
-
a. feeding a blank to a forming means; b. forming a first fold line on said blank wherein a portion of said blank forms a depending skirt from said first fold line; c. forming a second fold line on said blank after forming said first fold line with said second fold line being spaced inwardly from said first fold line whereby said blank is formed into a bottom member having a bottom panel portion and the depending skirt portion with said first and second fold lines therebetween; d. inserting said bottom member into a pocket of a mandrel with said pocket having a diameter less than the formed diameter of the first fold line; e. wrapping a container side wall blank about said mandrel and overlapping side marginal portions thereof and securing same together, said container blank having a portion thereof extending beyond a free end of the mandrel; f. moving said bottom member out of said pocket whereby said skirt portion expands and engages an interior surface of said container sidewall blank; and g. securing said skirt portion to said container blank. - View Dependent Claims (6)
