A capacitive sensing probe for sensing the depth of liquid in a tank or the like comprising a flat flexible cable made of first and second parallel wires having a constant spacing of at least one half inch encased in modified ETFE fluoroplastic, with the one end of the cable sealed off so that the wires at said end are insulated from each other, the wires extending out of the cable at the other end;

  • and capacitive sensing means coupled to the wires extending from said one end.
